The two following photos show Peri Social House at night with it's lights.
The last of my holiday lights tours!
-----------------
Sharing with Sepia Saturday, where a couple posed for a photograph, which was colorized by the artist in the studio...but then photographer, artist, or maybe the couple as well - went for a cuppa and socialized just like myself and friends!
Today's quote:
Inspiration does not come like a bolt, nor is it kinetic, energetic striving, but it comes into us slowly and quietly and all the time, though we must regularly and every day give it a little chance to start flowing, prime it with a little solitude and idleness.
-Brenda Ueland, journalist, editor, and writer (1891-1985)
Today's art:
A teapot made by my late friend Teresa Arp for the 2016 Holy Joly art exhibit.

Today's laugh:
Pretty new winter header. I love all the Christmas lights and decorations. Great selfie of you and your friend. I like the pretty teapot. Take care, enjoy your day and have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI think that's all the Christmas lights photos. Hope so anyway.
DeleteThose are warming photos that speak of good friendly times.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason we always seem to discuss important world issues when we meet there. I wonder if that will contiue.
DeleteSun and snow is a great combi. And all the socializing looks like fun. And the lights.... They should stay all winter, but then they are nothing special, I know...
ReplyDeleteAs another sun worshipper, I like being outside when it's shining...usually. The pretty colors are nice to see in decroations. (My typing is atrocious at the moment!)
DeleteWe have snow here today - more than on your header but it hopefully won't hang around too long. Friends are so important, especially as we get older. Nothing nicer than a coffee and a chat.
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I saw I have one other good friend in her 80s, and three in their 60s. Where are my 70s friends? I am cultivating some!
Delete...I'm glad that Black Mountain such a bright gathering spot.
ReplyDeleteThe parking is awful though! Nobody else could possibly squeeze in.
DeleteThanks for the decoration tours. Nice to see that many were able to celebrate the season.
ReplyDeleteHappy Twelfth Night.........suzi/smartcat
Thanks Suzi. It does brighten up things. But now it's January! I need to prepare for February greys.
DeleteI love the lights!
ReplyDeleteThanks, me too!
DeleteThe Social House? I love that name, but is it a restaurant, coffee shop, or something else?
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
There are a few rooms to stay in above the main level. Not much food, except a pizza truck right outside (in some parking spots that were needed). Coffee and wine bar seems to be the format these days. But lots of little seating areas does make it a good socializing place...much bigger than the other coffee venues already around.
DeleteKudos to the people on ladders putting up fairy lights! THAT takes a good amount of agility and effort! The pay off is wonderful, I would be leaving them up until they burn out! A dusting of snow and a white picket fence delightful! Lyrical actually! I love your face scooted into the shot. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me Courbet! I don ot feel so alone now... all of them- right on target.
The lighting crews are pretty fanatastic aren't they? Ah, someone who can relate to those levels of artistic pain!
DeleteOne word describes your photos - Charm! the chatting friends photos look so warm and fun , and your town is so, well, charming - especially all lit up for the holidays. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gail...I love living here, and sharing afternoons talking over our favorite hot drinks!
DeleteLights of all kinds are magical in the snow and cold nights. A week before the holidays an unknown neighbor put out a 3 foot tall artificial Xmas tree for the trash pickup or free-if-you-want-it. It was BRIGHT PINK and a bit twisted but I knew a place for it. I put it on top the 100 ft of tree debris next to my house and it quickly became a hit with everyone. Three days later a FEMA crew came by to clear the pile nearly three months after the storm. I saved the tree, added blue lights and put it on my porch, the only decorations I did this year. It actually looked really cool in a minimalist way and the blue lights turned the little pink tree into more of a ghostly mauve tint. I'm going to save it and turn it into our Christmas tradition!.
ReplyDeleteWow, you just now got your debris picked up! So sorry to hear that. I love your tree story, and that tradition will certainly give you some moments of nostalgia, for the good things that came out of this crisis.
DeleteYou have such a lovely community!
ReplyDeleteI love getting a chance to enjoy the good (cheap) ways to enjoy it too!
DeleteYou have an impressively busy social life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post of a beautiful place
ReplyDeleteWhat an imaginative, heart warming post with a top notch “feel good” factor! There is little to beat a good, congenial chat with friends and I love the shop decorations. With best wishes for a happy, healthy and peaceful 2025.
