Eating together

At the recent Senior Picnic at Lake Tomahawk, the Ukulele String Band entertained

Here folks are listening to the music while waiting for the pizza and salads that were served. I didn't make it to enjoy this with friends this time...physical issues.

The next week I did have lunch with a friend at Ole's Guacamole.

My favorite dish is shrimp tacos. This time the butterflied and grilled the shrimp...yummy!

The original Ole's restaurant is still being renovated following the flood from Hurricane Helene. They have new interior walls up, and are about to lay floor tiles. It has two dining rooms, and hopefully will be a quieter place where you can have a conversation. This room (above) gets really loud!

Ann Sillman, the lady on the left was invited to lunch by Alice, on the right.  Ann died before her 92st birthday about 2 years ago (I think). Alice, on the right, is still hostessing the monthly pot lucks at the UU church in Black Mountain with her husband (not in photo). Incidentally the restaurant where we enjoyed lunch has been closed since damage from Hurricane Helene.

La  Guinguette - little French style restaurant across from the Post Office in Black Mountain.

I haven't eaten here since there are new owners...but I've heard the menu is still delicious.

While we're talking about Tacos...there's the continuing leader Taco.

I woke up before 6 this morning. Argh! It will  be a long  day. I went to bed a bit early probably - just bored last night. My eyes were bothering me a bit, so nothing I do was enjoyable!

The parking lot I like downtown Black Mountain

Two good restaurants, Trailhead to the left, and My Father's Pizza to the right.

Tiny sign identifies the Cutting Crew, my fav hair dresser on the left end of this building. This is a multi-purpose building!

The best skies are usually observed over the porch of the Trailhead. Here's a post from last Sunday on FB.
Our staff may have had possible exposure to a positive test case for Covid. We are following CDC guidelines and taking all the necessary precautions. We currently scheduling tests and contact tracing to ensure everyone is safe. Sorry for any inconvenience, and Thank you for your continued support!

Inside one of these windows an orchid usually grows. Recognize the stones at the other end of the building from the Cutting Crew?

My very favorite place for coffee, and internet connection (especially since they now allow you to sit with your laptop for up to 2 hours!

The scene at Ole's Guacamole

A strange antique at our favorite Mexican restaurant...but I was trying to catch the 2 doves by the far wheel of the buggy...who were happily preening and ignoring the patrons of the restaurant.

We wished we had been seated in the sun, as it was chilly over by the creek. Sometimes you make choices based on beauty vs. comfort. I went over and sat on that orange bench for a while to warm up. Mrs. Ole' does most of the decorating at the restaurant. There are lots of decorations featuring Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.

Flat Creek runs right by the patio seating of the restaurant, connected by a footbridge to a motel.

I used the pano setting for the header. But I kind of like when the creek comes by at a more realisting angle.
