Potpourri - yes, more!

 

If you recognize this waiting area, you've been in my new bank! I was not happy with the one which bought out my local one, so I've switched to another one which has been around for a while, and I hope will continue to be here!

A colorized black and white...painted eggs, not real ones, as you can see their lengthwise seams. But these aren't the kind that had panty hose in them either, for those had seems that went around the middle at the waist, or large bellies of eggs. I wonder what material they were made from, as they do seem to be all the same size. 

I'm actually trying to figure out if I've fixed the iCloud and iPhotos problems I have been having! I found somehow the "folder is read only " had been clicked somehow in the PC for iCloud photos...which meant they wouldn't be editable. Is that related to edible? Nah. That and maybe a setting on the phone had also changed. Anyway, there are now two or three iPhotos listed in the PC, and if I'm patient, the latest photos do get posted there!

I'll drink to that!

View from my desk chair...at least the rain has stopped, which started in the night.

Then on Wed. of last week, the wind was chill, as well as the nights down in the low 30s. When I stopped by the Community Garden, several plots were covered with the plastic held in place with rocks. Some looked like they had blown off the supports however. I think I shared some photos at my Living in Black Mountain blog.

A holiday and blossoms

 Yes, I post things after they've happened, sometimes a week or so later.

Which one of these views above would you vote for including in my "calendar - if ever I were to make one? My monitor doesn't have HD resolution, so they look slightly blurry to me.

It was Easter, so I just drove around town looking at some of the beautiful trees and blossoms!

Looking down when standing at my living room window, and there are beautiful azalea blooms nested together.

I enjoy the blooming dogwood, of course, at different times of day, and different weather!

I just was gazing out the window, and only a tiny speck of the traffic on I-40 was still visible with the new leaves and blossoms hiding my view. In six more months I'll be able to see it again! I'll also look forward to seeing those mountains also!

My Father's Pizza

 Cathy and I walked around Lake Tomahawk, and stopped for many photos and rests. We hadn't tried walking around it for several weeks...so it was quite a challenge for us.

I'll post those photos elsewhere, except must give an intro to the first photos we took.

I don't think we talked very loudly, but we weren't completely silent, so...

They walked away while we walked in the other direction. I tried not to focus on the water fowl, who were either Mallards or Canada Geese.

Having accomplished our walk, we were really thirsty and hungry!

Great Bruschetta with lots of garlic flavor! I admit to not having tried it at every restaurant which serves it, but of the 3 I have tried in town, this is my favorite!

As we ate our salads, and rehydrated with lime water, we had a view of the open air pottery store across the walkway. Nice trees also.

Potpourri

  

In Asheville there's a big intersection where Biltmore Ave veers to the right, and McDowell St. starts to the left. If you go straight, you only get one lane. And here I sat at the front of the line, and quickly took a photo through the windshield of a beautiful church, All Souls Cathedral. Maybe it's just a Church. But I do like the architecture.

I often take the left fork in this y-intersection which also leads people to the entrance to the Biltmore Estate. So most of the traffic goes that way. I'm facing the town of Asheville, and coming off of I-40 Interstate.

A friend recently visited Cumberland Island National Seashore. On that island are the remains of a Carnegie mansion. There are also a herd of wild horses on the island. I have great memories of camping or just beaching and hiking on that great Georgia island!

I got these two brain-improving additives...and am taking the one on the left. My friend was going to try the one on the right, but upon reading what side effects the main ingredient gave, she's passing on it. So I looked on line to see more reviews of Nootropic Supplements.  Very interesting!

Harps

 

Beautiful to see a harp played in the street!

This is my contribution for this week to Sepia Saturday.

I heard Elizabeth Cunningham play an Irish Harp in a geodesic dome called The Lightcenter, here in Black Mountain. She also spoke of some of her writings. The Maeve Chronicles are delightful about Mary of Magdala.

I've heard many harps in my lifetime, and loved them all!

Happy Earth Day everyone. We belong to the earth.

I didn't go out of the apartment at all last Wed. So when I took out the trash on Thursday, I ran (well walked) back inside to get the phone. All these flowers were bursting out with colors!

I love these blooms, which are double or triple blossoms!

Ornamental Cherry blossoms are so beautiful the azaleas became the out of focus background here! I'll give you more Cherry blossoms soon.

On a more personal note, I had 2 doctor's appointments yesterday. The first one I arrived a bit early. But was called into the exam room within 5 minutes. Then I sat and sat and sat...after the nurse had done her review of my meds, my blood pressure and my pulse ox. This was a check up 6 weeks after I'd been really hit by some bad coughing spells. But after waiting an hour in that room, I just said, this is not happening. So I got up and left. I told the nurse I'd reschedule. She said she didn't know the Dr. hadn't been in to see me yet. As I talked to the scheduler she told me the next available would be in August.

I said ok, give me one. And then she found I already had one scheduled for June. I left happy, though hadn't even seen the Dr. I wonder if they'll charge my insurance for the nurse seeing me...

The second Dr. did an X-ray of my hands (that's his specialty) and then told me I had arthritis, and some osteoporosis...but not that bad. He said for a 79 year old, my hands looked very good. (It must be all the typing, I thought!)  But as for the times my index finger and thumb get out of joint, he couldn't see any reason that should be happening. It wasn't like a trigger finger...so he said the next time it happens I should take a photo or video of it and send it to him. It hurts like hell when it happens, and I'm supposed to leave it like that until I can figure out how to take a photo or video one handed! Sure. I just hope it doesn't ever happen again.
