Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! Flat Creek in November, 2024. Much changed by the force of the hurricane floods in Sept. 2024. The deck of the bridge is now under that pile of debris.

Here they come: the first dogwood and then...

Down the street (Old US 70) at Dogwood Apartments, stands the first full blooming dogwood. It doesn't appear damaged by the snows and sleet of the day before I took this shot. Sorry about reflection from taking it through car window.

By the time I publish this, many dogwoods will be flowering out in the woods also!

The greening of the mountains is beginning behind my neighbor's dogwood.

After many days of clouds, the late sun broke out and left nice shadows.

At Lake Tomahawk on April 15, 2022...dogwood blossoms against an older trunk of another tree.

I'll share more dogwood beauty in a few more posts.

  1. Spring is a wonderful time of year. Everywhere has its own special blossoms and flowers but the overall effect is much the same.

    1. Indeed they are. I have enjoyed them since there are many woodlands around in these mountains of NC.

  3. Hello,
Beautiful blossoms and trees. I hope the most recent freezing temps do not hurt our Dogwood.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

    1. Yes, that is a consideration. So far ours are still all in bloom. The Bradford pears all leafed out already.

    1. That's a small blessing for you. Our temps went down close to freezing, so there was probably frost a lot of places. Maybe snow on mountain tops, when we just had rain. Another day today that won't get into the 50s.

  6. There's only one spot I know of here that has dogwoods- a garden at one of the museums.
