Sepia Saturday this week...and I had all that history to talk about...so I will match the prompt on a separate post!

taken probably when phone booths were still available...so before everyone had cell phones, pre-1990

Saturday will mark 15 years since the shootings at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007 -- one of the deadliest mass shootings in US history. A gunman killed 32 people on the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, before taking his own life. Various vigils and ceremonies are scheduled to remember the victims.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI like these little markets, great Sepia photos. Happy Easter to you!
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Hi Eileen...in case you ever read replies to your comments! Love the critters post on Saturdays. Hope you enjoy Easter.
Delete...honest weights and fair dealings, refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThat's Square Dealings...not sure the same as fair. Probably though...
DeleteNice old sepia photos.
ReplyDeleteSimpler times, but that fish market sure did offer everything!
DeleteAre there still phone booths anywhere? That makes it tough for Clark Kent. . .
ReplyDeleteHa ha. I read a story about time travel once (Barry was the female author, can't think of her full name right now.) This time traveler thought he'd be smart if anyone asked what he was doing and said, going to pay taxes. Everyone in the future laughed! I wish!
DeleteThose markets bring back memories.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter
Definitely me too!
DeleteI think most phone booths today are those red ones in the Britain and only because they are tourist attractions. There may b a few 'regular' phone booths around, but I've not seen any lately, myself. I suppose Superman has been reduced to using the loo these days. Must be a bit humiliating. :) Neat pic of the corner market, by the way.
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't give credit as I don't know photographer. It was a short time before I moved here, I know that much.
DeleteNice photo happy Easter from Poland
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I hope you are not feeling the brunt of all the Ukrainian refugees coming into Poland!
DeleteQuite a throwback.
ReplyDeleteI think this photo was taken after people started to pump their own gas, just a guess.
DeleteSometimes it hits one how much the world has changed just in one's own life-time!
ReplyDeleteTruly said! I did post a smaller post this week!
DeleteCool photo! I'm sure that gas station had an attendant as well.
ReplyDeleteI kind of doubt it since that car looks like some compact style, so I'm guessing the 70s or later. Maybe earlier they did have an attendant...shall I check the oil and water and air in your tires ma'am?
DeleteBarbara, I remember when I was growing up and we'd moved to a 'new' house in Jackson Michigan... It was located near not just one, but 2 corner grocery stores. It was wonderful to be able to walk a couple of blocks and pick up necessities as well as candy and ice cream. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteWhen living in a 50s housing are of Houston, and inner city of St. Louis, I could walk to a corner store. In Houston I would pull my red wagon with coke bottles to get returns, and purchase candy. In St. Louis I was old enough to walk to school, so could stop at a corner store on the way home, and read comics till they told me to stop, then buy some candy! My allowance always for sugar!
DeleteA perfect fit! Funny how a telephone booth has become a relic of ancient history.
