The porch geranium

I've never tried this deep red variety. But I liked the way it looked, so bought 2 plants, and then scrunched them into one hanging pot.

Tomorrow I need to go get some more flowers, to use all those empty pots that are sitting around looking junky!

I actually have a tiny balcony full of the empty pots...and am bringing them out and repotting the new flowers and herbs slowly for both the railing of the balcony (full shade) and the porch (partial sun).

Red

I'm sorry the new blogger doesn't let me change the color of my blog title...I've tried in "advanced" which is so limited and doesn't even have a button to "Save changes" at this time...so I'll be kind of anonymous!

No the traffic wasn't backed up from a train (the tracks are just before US 70 and that Ingles semi truck. The traffic was because I-40 is having construction on one lane of traffic all weekend long, so the cars and semi's get off and come through town...backing up at each light.

I think geranium red may show more exactness than rose red.

The phone camera does fine with most shots...but the reds just have a lot of trouble with gradations.

If you know anything about the Tarot cards, the one called Justice usually just has the woman who's blindfolded holding a scale in one hand and a sword in the other. This last week we've all missed the wisdom of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. This clever card has a red background.

Neighbors over on Walker Rd.

The whole bush of roses which we've enjoyed all summer.

They were actually planted by my former neighbor, who moved away suddenly a few years ago.

Another time I took a photo close up of the beautiful red rose...which turned pink in my camera.

And no pinks appear on the geranium. I scratch my head.

There are a lot of people around my town/state, who have signs and stickers like this. We are currently a swing state.

My favorite bowl (which I made) holding some Thai peanut sauce. spinach noodles, and tofu mixed with whatever veggies were in the fridge.

I'll give you more Red photos as I take them...

Wandering in my neck of the woods

I was surprised to see another gardenia on the bush, so I took its picture, then picked it, and have enjoyed the scent on my bedside table. Ahhh. (I'm feeling very blessed that my scent ability has returned.)

I'm not sure what these puffy pink blossoms are. Whenever I see flowers, I snap their photo.

An ornamental grass gives these lovely little purple spikes.

Another strange flower blossoming on a plant I don't recognize.

The base of the gazebo at the memorial garden at UUCSV (my church) has some great variety of shrubs.

One day I walked up this hill, and discovered the picnic table...probably used by the residents of the apartment building nearby. (table looks like 2 horizontal bars in this photo)

Another resident has some planters at the entrance to her walkway...which she shares with just one neighbor.
I like the pink geraniums, but always buy the red ones. I'll show you why soon.

Today's quote:

"Every walk to the woods is a religious rite, every bath in the stream is a saving ordinance. Communion service is at all hours, and the bread and wine are from the heart and marrow of Mother Earth.

To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter... to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring—these are some of the rewards of the simple life."

Exciting times

I think whatever is going to happen in the next few months will indeed show the better side of humanity. And possibly the worst side as well.  After all, the Yin/Yang, Tai Chi symbol shows how right in the heart of the biggest area of light is the tiny beginning of darkness, and in the heart of darkness is the little glimmer of light.

Yes, I brought home a new geranium...with lots of buds on it. Flowers are for sale at our nursery in Black Mountain, NC. And I bought some potting soil too.

These little coleus (colei?) will need to be transplanted in the next week!

I can barely say the name of this new hanging plant... a lot of different colors.

And just look what's happening on the rose bushes! These weren't trimmed back in the winter, but it doesn't seem to bother them at all.

I don't like the way red (and yellow also) just blasts away in digital photos.

2. “Cruelty is easy, cheap and rampant.”
