Wordless Wednesday

Yesterday I had a sad conversation with my care coordinator, who I've spoken with monthly by phone for maybe 4 years. I was emotional. The practice is closing here in Black Mountain. I told Rob that he knows more about me than anyone else. It's like having a husband without the rigamarole! Well, only on the medical level of course. It was so hard to say good-bye to him. Like breaking up with a boyfriend used to feel. I had to count to 3 and we both had to hang up at the same time. I wonder why I'm still a teenager.

Early snow

It's not that early in the year, just early in the day, before dawn.  The silly camera insisted I needed a flash, but of course the snow is just a dusting.  But it's still falling.  However 34 degrees until noon is forecast, so not much is likely to stick.

It's changing my plans for the day though.  With a high of 40, I don't think we'll be walking around Dillsboro looking at pottery.  Sorry potters.  I do feel for you outside all day, and know this will eat into your sales.

Smoky Mountain Railway

From a trip to Dillsboro, NC for the Pottery Festival...

Suddenly here comes the train!  It slowly rolls right within reach of my hand, if I'd the nerve to stretch it out.  Instead I moved back away from the fence which separated us.  Just a foot or so.

So big.  So powerful.

Most of the cars were closed, except for this one.

I wondered what the car called the Train Store had inside.

The train stayed parked right next to the booths full of pottery for at least an hour.

After we went to lunch it had left.  I wondered if the whole thing turned around before it went back on its journey (where, how?)  There's more to be explored about this train.  It would be fun to take a trip on a day like this.

I'll post on my pottery blog tomorrow about our lunch adventure.  (Don't miss today's post about my friends I saw while looking at pottery...over here.)
