The summit of my my amaryllis...there are now six blooms on the crazy amaryllis! I finally added a stick to help hold them all up!
My one surviving orchid from years past has a small stalk reaching for the light. Mmm, I need to get some food for this little one.
This year's orchid is beautiful and already had lots of blooms open. I'm glad because sometimes buds drop off from the shock of moving through nursery, shipping container, store, and then my home.
A wet day in Black Mountain and I went shopping, without having a damp sit-down under the bare cherry tree. I'll be back in 3 months or so to see some blooms I hope.
And by the time you're reading this, many of my blooms have faded. I'll post a pic of the remains another time.

And back to discussion from turning point. About choices made. I give you this poem.
The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Today on Open Yesterday's Pages:
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI love your flowers, gorgeous! Love the poem! I would choose the road less traveled, it is peaceful.
Take care, have a great day!
Yep, us road less traveled folk will eventually make it the road most traveled. Tee hee.
DeleteBoth plants are very beautiful. Your indoor ‘garden’ always delights.
ReplyDeleteThanks...it is always changing, and I am not sure what will bloom next...not many will last much longer.
DeleteLovely amarylliis. Mine are piddling along. I think my sunroom may be too chilly!
ReplyDeleteI did move one orchid back from the glass window, as I think it was too cold over there. But keeping our little green friends alive through the cold time is the goal, really.
Delete...my amaryllis, one red and one white are flowering, they are a delight. I have three orchids that hopefully may flower. Yours are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, two older orchids have shoots of bloom branches out, but they are not really that healthy! How about a photo of your amaryllis?
DeleteLike my dining table! Amaryllis and orchids, all blooming away!
ReplyDeleteWe do both have the same south facing windows and table underneath from which to enjoy the view and flowers. I guessthe flowers enjoy the view too.
DeleteI don't think I'll have any blooms from amayrillis this year. So far only leaves. YOurs is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I will soon not have blooms any more, and I guess I'll cut back the stalk and let the leaves feed the dear bulb.
DeleteBeautiful plants and blooms. It lightens up the gloomy grey days.
ReplyDeleteLove that poem!
ReplyDeleteIt's worth reading over and over.
DeleteI'm impressed with your beautiful flowers. And that February lace painting looked like a photograph to me and I liked it immediately. Thanks honey. Aloha
ReplyDeleteAs my day is ending here, I must givve you a laugh. I've been watching Hawaii Five-0 - starting with season 1 (newer series). It's so great to look out my windows and see winter, then see people surfing! A fine way to balance life and fantasy! And of course the 'good guys' win within an hour!
DeleteHi Barbara, My wife loves amaryllis! Orchids too... We had one orchid that was a gift that lasted for at least 5 years. Laurie's Christmas cactus succulents are in full bloom right now... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
