Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! The Flat Creek walkway has clumps of debris still, and lots of sand and rocks on the flats across from the paved walk (which shows no damage from Hurricane Helene.) However as you walk further up the creek, you come to the mobile homes which survived, or didn't, the rising waters.

snow 2025 and then some

The first Jamuary snow fell, and then the next day was clear skies and clear walks and roads (mostly. So I went driving to get the mountain photo over the lake. Here's my porch showing how light that snow was. My post of my photo efforts to show snow on the mountains was Here.

Second snow, Jan 10-11, 2025.

My porch and the walk are covered with an icy mix that isn't too deep, again. The snow fell about4 hours then sleet came after dark. I'm taking photos through the windows today! And nobody else has walked on the sidewalk by 11:30 either.

Yet, even as I write this, I  hear outside a motor whirring. Yes, the landscape crew is also contracted to clear walks...and this well bundled young man is blowing snow off the walks. Wheee!

I can see Blue Ridge Rd. is clear (though perhaps icy) and cars are going their normal speed on the interstate which I see through the trees. Soooo, do I want an updated photo of the lake and mountains? Of course. Mmm. Maybe, my smarter self says.

I'll have lunch first. Then decide what to do.

The porch and walk are now blown clear. Mmm, maybe a drive over to the lake...lunch was a roast beef sandwich, and a banana. I'm thinking... Will still have to clear off car, and it's only 28 degrees. I think having sun coming in the windows, and two books started (a hard cover and an audio book) I'm snuggling down inside.

Here's a nice Children's Choir, Bellanova singing, which I found on blogger Love is a Place.

Today's quote:

Grateful hearts truly love. Grateful hands reach out. Grateful eyes see generations. Grateful minds imagine big ideas like justice, peace, and health. Our world needs no less than grateful living.

    1. That's definitely true, more so as I have this aging body. I think like it's 60 still, but I had my 82nd birthday last year!

  2. Love the art - the snow... not so much!

  3. Hello,
The workers did a great job clearing the snow. It is still very cold here.
The Whitman's art is pretty, I have not seen one like that.
Take care, have a wonderful week ahead.

    1. I hadn't seen the Whitman's art like that either...nor tins to hold it. The yellow boxes have been around all my life.

  4. We had a bit overnight but not enough for the driveway guys to come. We'll have to push it ourselves, but it won't be difficult. There generally has to be about two inches to bring them out, but they will surprise us sometimes.

    1. That's good, that you didn't get much more snow. Take it easy clearing your drive! Today is above freezing already at 9 am, so I expect most will disappear here and we'll go back to grey.

  5. ...pretty, but not much of a snow if a blower can clear the walks!

    1. That's true. I hadn't ever seen that technique before, and it sure made for clear concrete.

  6. You actually had more snow than we had here in RI. However due to low temps ours has stayed.......sort of. Stay safe.💙💛💙

    1. It's already above freezing today, so my main job is to tote the laundry across the now dry driveway to the little laundry room. I see snow still on a roof downhill from me, but it must have better insulation from those apartments, because snow on my roof is almost all gone.

  7. Glad you stayed put because ice can be invisible.

  8. Wise choice, Barb! Maybe today will be a better idea...or even tomorrow.

    1. Since my local grocery has something called seniors day on Tues, I usually go then. But it's silly because I don't clip coupons any more! I think I get double points toward a nickel off my gasoline for every $50 I purchase, or something like that. Today I'm focused on bedding and hanging clothes before they wrinkle too badly!

  9. The mountain will still be there for a photo when the road and weather is better. Nice header, I meant to say that last time but forgot. :)

  10. Hi Barbara, We actually had 2.5 inches of snow where we live in Loudon TN. Had to pay a young fellow to shovel the sidewalk and driveway as I can't shovel snow at this stage and my better half shouldn't... FYI, Whitman's Chocolates were a long time favorite of my mothers'. 11. I was woken briefly in the night by whoever clears the snow around the building. My apartment is a good three meters above the back parking lot.
