Who knew all this would happen afterwards! First 2025 snow, the path around Lake Tomahawk passes a fenced garden of a B & B.

Beauties in sight and sound
Jackie Morris is an artist and former blogger, in the UK. I just found I'd saved a YouTube clip of some of her art with a bit of music (only a minute's worth).
The Quiet Music of Gently Falling Snow.
Speaking of art and music, here's an interesting chart I found on Facebook. I'm not a musician, but do have friends who are.
I love that the sounds of music coordinate with math.
I must wonder about Asian music, which has a different scale. Does it have different math systems?

come play again sometime."

First day of the new year, I invited friends to come see a movie with me "Wicked" which is available to rent on Prime now. Much less expensive than all of us going to the theater...but I did want to make the experience somewhat special. Snacks for the friends...and comfortable chairs from which to watch. All brought something to eat of course. We wandered back and forth to the kitchen to fill plates, cups, glasses. I stayed up much later than I had the night before for New Years.
And I feel much more stable when my 85 year old very "with-it" friend showed up a day early for the movie gathering. Yes, with all her treats to share. But she was so surprised it wasn't until Wednesday. I'm usually the one who does things on wrong dates, as my friends will attest to. So I kept her dip in the refrigerator, as well as all her little tidbits in her bag, and she went on home, still shaking her head and laughing!
In honor of the occasion, or new year in general, I accomplished my two biggest household challenges. Kitchen is cleaned up...all counters, all dishes put away! (Didn't mop floor however, in case you come over to check!) The more unusual for me thing was wearing a mask for dust particles, and vacuuming the various floors. It did take two tries, with me getting completely out of breath having finished 2 rooms at a time. Or maybe that was from moving some of the lighter furniture. Nope, just pushing a vacuum is exercise for me! Gotta get back into working out soon!
I did bring inside from the car all the little water bottles that have been gifted to me (two huge cases.) It was just freezing yesterday, but tonight will go even colder. All I need is a spatter of frozen bottled water all over everything, soaking into upholstery.
But the cases were too heavy to lift, even putting them into my rolling cart to carry them to the apartment...so I had to move each bottle into smaller boxes first, and carry half a case at a time. Whew, more good exercise! And somehow it sent my brain off into netherland, so I couldn't find the keys to the car after all was finished. I looked just about everywhere, twice. Then thought I'd lost my phone, and again did the look around twice. Boy was I frazzled! Found phone in a different place in the bathroom. And found keys in wrong compartment of the purse. I have good systems, but there was somebody else goofing off this afternoon!

I woke in the middle of the night, with important consideration and concern. I had forgotten to say how grateful I am for blogger friends. So consider it done, now, and I can go back to sleep.
This is the eighth and last day of Hanukkah
I mistook the nutcracker for being an Indian. Silly me!

Oh that's a good question about Indian music. I would bet the Beatles would know. It seems an easy thing to share movies at home with friends. I'm moving into the mentality which I've only heard about, where people just drop in on one another...no pre-arranged date, letting one know when they're on their way. We shall see if it continues! I don't think Jackie Morris puts much energy into social media, but then I only log onto blogs and FB.
All the art work is beautiful. Your evening watching Wicked sounds lovely. I think any housework is considered exercise. Take care, have a wonderful day!
Yes, cleaning up somehow does have to happen...either at the time of use, or piled up days later. Got a kick out of your pot out on the balcony keeping cool.
We do often lose track of the days when they are all so similar. A friend cancelled coffee on Tuesday because he thought it was Friday. This happened on Monday. 🥸
I liked the whole thing a lot! The movie setting was so much more enhanced than the play had been. When comparing them, the play was seen about 20 years ago I think, but it did have the intimacy that real actors on the stage can convey. The stage production was also pretty amazing with sets and costumes, but the movie outdid them all!
Oh dear- I know that mistake of showing up on the wrong day, prepared for a party- "where is everyone?" Facebook is pretty much over for me- I tried to dump it several times but they (META) make it nearly impossible to do so. I just do not log on, leaving my profile in place for now. Blogging seems to be safe from manipulation ... Nut Cracker- hahahaha, honest mistake. Your movie party sounds great- I may do the same sometime.
It got a lot easier as people dropped out, saying they didn't want to drive at night. And those 2 are some of my younger friends! But perhaps it just made it easier for us to relax. I don't want things to be a big production. We just set out what snacks we had, grabbed the appropriate size dishes, mugs for sparkling grape juice, and cloth napkins which my friend brought. I am proud of myself washing the dishes as we packed up left overs! Ta da! That's a new feeling indeed.
I've misplaced some items and am amazed where I eventually find it. I try and put all my stuff, keys, camera, etc. in the same place but sometimes I mess up and have to do a search. :)
What I find interesting is that both music and math use the same brain cells to process information. So studying either math or music builds dendrites to make thinking more efficient!
I smiled as I read about your keys and phone! Wd spent 5 minutes in town looking for Larry's keys today. We were in town because he had lost his driver's license somewhere. Finally discovered the keys in a closed compartment on the dash! He'd been on the phone while I was in a store, and for some reason put his keys in there. An enjoyable read as always, Barb!
It is sad when people abandon blogging completely for FB. She makes beautiful art.
ReplyDeleteHome cinema...a lovely idea , keeping friendships going (and a day early is better than a day late!!)
I wonder if Indian music also aligns with the Fibonacci series..but not in the way we expect.

I Loved the movie and plan to watch it again before my 48 hours of rental is up. I hope another friend will join me then.
DeleteI had to laugh about your friend turning up a day early. Kinda cute! I must still do all the cleaning up, yikes.

ReplyDeleteWell, if I got that straight, they were more confused than my friend. I can't wait to tell her.
DeleteDid you enjoy Wicked? We went to the theater to see it, first time there since we moved to NH. Nice to have your friends over to enjoy it with you.
