Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! The Flat Creek walkway has clumps of debris still, and lots of sand and rocks on the flats across from the paved walk (which shows no damage from Hurricane Helene.) However as you walk further up the creek, you come to the mobile homes which survived, or didn't, the rising waters.

Did your inner child ever want to build something like this?

First let's look at a video by innovative bio-tech, Mike Reynolds - but don't miss the good environmental news at the end of the post!

More about earth ships...the guy who started it all. Michael Reynolds in interview and tour of early Earth Ships - houses with built-in regeneration and bio-energy savings.

Note, Mike Reynolds had some pretty "out there" ideas, but they mostly seem positive and environmentally oriented.

I've already shared my trip with my youngest son and his wife to a New Mexico site of Earth Ships.

Mike is the originator of many of the ideas, though more have definitely come along with more people showing interest in alternative building methods.

Personal note:

Don't try to mix cold coffee with diet Dr. Pepper.. I thought, well, they're both cold, and full of caffeine. Nope, something made a solid foamy top and it tasted only half as good as either of them.

Yesterday's word for the day - just saying:

nefandous

PRONUNCIATION:
(nuh-FAN-duhs)

MEANING:
adjective: So wicked as to defy description: abominable, appalling.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin nefandus (wicked), from ne- (not) + fandus (to be spoken), gerundive (verbal adjective) of fari (to speak). Earliest documented use: 1649.

NOTES:
A synonym of today’s word is nefarious, but it’s from Latin fas (right, divine law) instead of fari (to speak).

  1. I am quit troubled, so it is good to see positive news. Otherwise, I am trying to avoid news as much as I am able.

That word of the day was highly apropos.

    1. I didn't (couldn't stomach it) watch any of the speeches yesterday. We (the opposition) knew it would be like this. That doesn't make me feel the incredible sadness any less.

    1. Good idea to avoid the news. A new source has come to my attention, with the people who left the Washington Post making it. "The Contrarian" is on line (no network TV's) with newsletters and interviews (I signed up for free, but got to watch a really good interview with Jen Rubin yesterday...I should blog about it!)

But, what I was missing and also could not find on their site...what about fire protection?
    Love today´s art!

    The news... too stressy.

Thank you for the tip with Dr. Pepper, LOL.

    1. Good to notice that. I have no idea either. Thanks for stopping by. News is stunning, and not in a good way today.

    1. I'm all for that, but I do respect the rule of law, which is no longer being respected by the power-mongers.

  5. Didn't watch any of the garbage yesterday but heard enough today to make me sick. The good news report is a bright spot, a reminder that a few positive things are happening.

  6. I have long held to only getting my news by newspaper.
