I never go over to read the historic marker, and know little about the arrow monument.
It stands in front of the Old Fort Train Station. I don't know if anything happens inside, and the freight trains which go through here probably don't stop.
Limericks
(quoted from a daily newsletter, having nothing to do with Old Fort)
by Gary Johnson
There was an old lady of Queens
Who survived on wieners and beans.
Wearing Army surplus,
Riding the bus,
And stealing from vending machines.

A misanthrope living in Raleigh
Believed human friendship was folly
But he did get it on
With a trumpeter swan
And was fond of a miniature collie.

But he did get it on
With a trumpeter swan
And was fond of a miniature collie.
Whose parents were in silver frames
And looked down from the wall
And if he swore at all,
Their pictures burst into flames.
An old fellow up in Two Harbors
No longer bothered with barbers.
He let his hair grow
Ten feet or so
And wore it on overhead arbors.
Wonderful collection of murals. Have a great new week!
ReplyDeleteTHere may be more, but these were the ones I discovered on that trip.
Delete...you found a gold mine of murals!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I love that this small town is expressing itself in art!
DeleteI was reading a blog, and suddenly, limericks happened.
ReplyDeleteMy gift to you!!
DeleteReally beautiful murals there. How fun to add some limericks too!
ReplyDeleteThey sort of came my way, and I liked interspersing them with the murals.
DeleteThose murals are beautiful, you found some great ones.
ReplyDeleteAnd they are different styles. I like that.
DeleteLoved the limericks. I asked my husband to write one for our Christmas card but he wrote prose instead. Didn't have a limerick in him this time.
ReplyDeleteSome days are limerick days, some are prose days. I understand.
