Some old wheels and wagons
Taking a break from my Southwestern vacation...let's go back a few years.
Another fun sharing with Sepia Saturday. Wheels and wagons are what struck my attention...
A fun shot of another wagon, this time a Ford, with a camper and canoe included!
And yes, I've shared this before...one of my uncles (or my father) taking a photo of the tire changing, while someone else (it would be just like my mother) is taking a photo of the whole thing.
I've long enjoyed the beauty of GypsyVardo Wagons...and here's one that seems related to railway travel.
Another beautiful and practical way to live and travel.
I do feel that these people led a hard life, what with moving about a lot, and having to prepare meals (I do take the view of the women of course) and clean-up with campfires (if it wasn't raining!)
And here two young brothers, my Uncle Chauncey (RIP) was driving the auto while my father made a face in his funny hat.

We all seem to agree on the Ford and camper...my Mother drove another kind of "woody" stationwagon for a while in the 50s.
DeleteThe gypsy wagons are great! But my favorite, as well, has to be the Ford wagon & camper. What a hoot!

DeleteSome of those gypsy caravans are works of art. It must have been quite a sight to see several of them travelling the countryside together.

ReplyDeleteConsidering how unpopular the Gypsies were (in most accounts) they sure had beautiful vehicles.
DeleteThat is a most elegant 'woody' (far superior to the woody stationwagons I remember!)
ReplyDeleteAnd the gypsy caravans are tiny pieces of movable art.
A terrific ensemble of wooden caravans! Surely their elegant woodwork inspired the later motorcar woodies lik your wonderful example. The canoe and coffin? on the trailer are fabulous, but it's the surfboard,a long board of real balsa wood no doubt, that takes it over the top.
