View from my tiny balcony, April 11, 2026. The steep slope my apartment building sits on reminds me that this is an ancient river valley, and perhaps where I sit once was the bank of a bigger Swannanoa River than the one of today.

Rio Grand Gorge, New Mexico
The Rio Grand Gorge Bridge, outside of Taos NM
We drove slowly over it. There's also a little parking lot on the side of it where "tourists" can stop to look up and down the river and the gorge. We didn't stop.
