Wildfires - environment keeps changing

Thanks to Good Morning America for featuring Asheville 6 months after Hurricane Helene, and raising $2.7 million to help - this morning.

Last night and this morning...

My environment:

Black Cove Complex fire
^ Made up of three fires totaling 6,500 acres
* Two largest fires are now 10-20% contained
* Two fires caused by downed power lines
* Third fire cause still under investigation
- Blaze has spread into Henderson County
- 250 houses evacuated
- Named highest priority fire in southern U.S. (3.26.25)

The 4556 acre Table Rock Fire lights the Carolinas Sky. Started in Pickens County, SC, the fire is now encroaching into Transylania County, NC, near Brevard 3.27.2025

Black Mountain is to the east (right) of Asheville, about 15 miles along I-40.

And Facebook just posted this (Thurs, 11:15 am)

    1. That's my aim...just picked up groceries...and needed someone to pick me up after carrying 2 heavy bags in the house. Whew, a good workout!

  2. Yikes, first the floods, then the fires. How worrying these times seem to be.

    1. It is certainly a challenge to think of climate change, when our environment is slapping us silly!

    1. Stay safe, everyone! One friend has her car packed in case she's in a zone of evacuation. I don't even have a "g0-bag" packed.

  5. Wildfires are brutal. Crazy to see Asheville still recovering from the hurricane while this is happening. Glad GMA is shining a light on it—hoping they get these fires under control soon. Stay safe, everyone!

  6. How odd that the map has that heart shape.

  7. I get the feeling that mother nature is trying to get rid of us. She is tired of the way we treat her. She sent Covid and we pretty much managed to overcome it, after many losses.
