Happy Imbolc...as practiced by many an Irish person, and those who love the goddess/saint Briget.
We are celebrating this year on a zoom circle. It should be a hoot!
Here's the circle we had in 2020.
Today's quote:
Balance must be created when taking in news media, not allowing ourselves to BECOME the bad news.
What a beautiful house. Our snow is not melting, it is still very cold here.
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your day and week ahead.
Oh my, winter has arrived where you live! Imbolc gives me the hope of spring coming around the corner.
Delete...thanks for the introduction to Imbolc. The quote is spot on!
ReplyDeleteI've been in Imbolc ceremonies many times, but often haven't known what it's all about. Something about lambs being born, and the first milk of the sheep. But when I heard about Bridget, patron saint and goddess of poetry, smithcraft and metal-working, midwife and many stories about her, I understood why this holy day of the Celtic calendar is important.
DeleteBlessed Imbolc to you.
ReplyDeleteHares and rabbits for a fortunate February.
Thanks, Suzi. May your February also bring beauty, healing, fortune and love.
DeleteHappy Imbolc to you too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin Andrea...happy Inbolc to you as well. I will look forward to your posts.
DeleteJust read about Imbolc elsewhere. I don’t recall hearing it before.
ReplyDeleteThe post that you were looking for will appear tomorrow. For what it’s worth, which is not much.
OK, so glad to know what happened...Glad you are learning about a new holy day of the Celtic calendar.
DeleteWe are getting a new bank holiday this year because of Covid. It will be the day after St. Patrick's Day. Next year it will be celebrated permanently on St. Brigid Day. People are very happy about that.
ReplyDeleteOh that's great! I just realized the Irish folks in America have St. Patrick's Day next month to celebrate. They/we really make out - though nobody gets off work, but parades are held and we drink green beer in honor of St. P.
DeleteHappy Embolic/ St Brigit's Day! Having some Irish heritage I always enjoy reading interesting facts about Ireland and Irish lore on Facebook groups and web pages. It is nice to know we are halfway towards the Spring equinox. We are expecting another snowstorm in Colorado and sub zero temperatures.
ReplyDeleteOh the weather is behind on the celebrations about it. And with global warming, who knows how things will ever sync up. Happy Imbolc/Brigit's day! I just read in the comment above yours that Irish folks will soon have a new holiday celebrating Sr. Brigit!
DeleteOur snow will be around for a long while.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a long winter there. Which makes your spring extra delightful when it happens. I'm sorry there aren't ice sculptures happening this year.
DeleteThat house is beautiful...I always wish I could peep inside. We are supposed to get snow starting tomorrow night...I will believe it when I see it. But I did get in some supplies just in case it does happem.
ReplyDeleteI love catching and saving photos of beautiful homes...not mansions. Victorian styles entice me. Snow may happen this weekend here, but more likely rain. Glad to hear you're preparing for hunkering down.
DeleteWonderful pictures! I love that house--but wouldn't want to have the maintenance of it.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking. I don't know how often the exterior would need paint...but I'd guess every 5 years or so. Not to mention all the roofs! My thought was it is hard to heat I bet.
