I like reading news events...and non-events sometimes. As well as tracking some interesting history.
I've also wanted to expand my vocabulary.
Here's a new one for me...
sough
PRONUNCIATION:
MEANING:
verb intr.: | To make a moaning, sighing, whistling, murmuring, or rustling sound. |
noun: | 1. Such a sound. |
2. A rumor. |
...I don't need to expand my vocabulary with this one!
ReplyDeleteQuite understandable!
DeleteNew to me.
ReplyDeleteWell, now that we're talking about it...I'll look for somewhere it might fit in conversation.
DeleteA new to me word too.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone has used it.
DeleteI think I've read it, but that's it.
ReplyDeleteGood point, perhaps Shakespeare!
DeleteLike AC, I've read it. I think it sounds too much like a female pig for me to use it without giggling.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you on that!
DeleteInteresting new word. I may try to use it some time, if I can remember.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how that goes...if you remember.
DeleteI just was offered some products that explain why they use the term Mazol Tough. It's said somewhere like Touf and the appropriate Tough like nails.
ReplyDeleteI knew the word but not wit that meaning. A "sough" is a drainage channel for a mine. I'd heard it used in the old lead mines of Derbyshire where water still pours out from old mine workings into nearby streams.
ReplyDeleteThat's a new one for me too.
