Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! I used to write several blogs, but thought just concentrating on one would be easier for me and my readers. Sorry, it ends up having several topics in each post!

Hodge podge old and newer

Wonderful pioneer mountain women doing the carding, spinning and maybe knitting of the wool.

Myself (lowest) and my granddaughter (l.) and her mother. Granddaughter just graduated from college! She is my oldest son's daughter. We visited with masks, except to eat...it was so nice to see their smiles!

A hug between my middle son and his mother-in-law. I have long wished there were a good term for a couple of mothers of married couples...rather than mothers-in-law in common! I feel very lucky that my son's mothers-in-laws are such wonderful women.

There used to be a train that went up to Mt. Michell...the highest peak east of the Mississippi. Now you can drive almost to the top, park your car and then walk an incline the last couple hundred feet.

Sharing with Sepia Saturday, of course. Can't let these old photos go by without sharing them there!

  5. I love your family photos and the old photo with the women spinning, etc. The photo with three generations of women is probably my favorite. Susan

  6. My older daughter has a very nice mother-in-law also. Perhaps second mother would be a good term?

  7. Nice to see the old photo of the women spinning and knitting - but the best was the three generation photo that includes you and all of your smiling faces.

  8. Congrats on your family get together. We are all doing reunions these days after our long year of isolation! Love the vintage photos as well. The knitting, carding and spinning appeals to the crafts-person in me -- and that train photo at the end is just great. I sometimes wish some of those old train lines still operated to out of the way places.

  9. Happy smiles should be the theme for this summer. Last week I saw my son and daughter-in-law (another awkward term, maybe just newdaughter) for the first time in 18 months. Far too long and every smile was beyond price.

  10. Ohhh - that picture of Lake Tamahawk looks sooo inviting to me sitting here in 100+ degree temps! Ugh. A lovely stroll along that lakeside path would be just the ticket, I think. (sigh) Other than that, a nice post of various family pix. You have a good-lookin' middle son, there! ;)
