Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! Flat Creek in November, 2024. Much changed by the force of the hurricane floods in Sept. 2024. The deck of the bridge is now under that pile of debris.

Some ongoing blooms to lift my spirits

I've cut back some of the dead blooms, aka dead-heading. But it takes care to locate the right stems with the scissors!

Today's quote:
The bud
stands for all things,
even for those things that don’t flower,
for everything flowers, from within, of self-blessing;
though sometimes it is necessary
to reteach a thing its loveliness,
to put a hand on its brow
of the flower
and retell it in words and in touch
it is lovely
until it flowers again from within, of self-blessing;

    1. As long as they are alive. The dead or dying blooms are a bit depressing.

    1. And about this time of winter I'm really sick of caring for them. I shook the gardenia bush the other day and lots of leaves fell all over the floor. Now I have to vacuum them up...and honestly I've just avoided walking over there for a few days. That's the level of my spirits I'm afraid.

  3. The flowers and blooms are just beautiful. I would love to try to grow an orchid. They do lift your spirits, such a pretty sight! Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!

    1. Yes, I do like how the blooms are sometimes so beautiful! Today is rainy and grey again...and so are my spirits...it's Mon and rainy and I feel like that old song. I think I may have to go drive a bit in the rain to feel a bit more grateful for my warm and cozy nest.

    2. Just looked at your pretty scene, and wanted to comment how it cheered me up...but your comments are off. That's ok. Thanks.

    1. It's been a good thing, having them on the windowsills, and giving me some color to look at. I have seen some daffodils on some postings on line...none in person yet. Then I will have trouble staying inside...will be driving around taking photos of spring blooms. Can't wait!

    1. Thank you. I can feel glum as can be until I look at these beautiful faces! It's hard to feel down when they just look so happy.

    1. I saw flowers for sale at the grocery store the other day...bunches are rather costly. So I'm extra happy that these are practically free.

    1. Every little bit of cheer helps...but still seeing blue skies and sunshine takes the prize!
