This and that...

I'm not fond of white flowers. I wonder if they are most popular with northerners who miss snow!

Sharing with Sepia Saturday

I came home from my week-long trip, and now have shared most of the photos I took, well, a few of probably 500 I took. I have yet to discard any.

I'm breathing a bit better, but the brain is still giving me difficulties (not just short term memory, but long term,) and real difficulty finding words, as well as saying the wrong one. And the finger trembles remain. So my GP gave me a referral for a neurological exam...but they haven't called yet. I continue to be out of breath when walking from apartment to parking lot. So I go very slowly!  I just dropped off a sample of sputum for the pulmonologist to check before he makes any decisions about my care.

Entertaiinment last nighth was Conclave. I'd had it on my list for a while, but it seemed appropriate as a real one will be happening in Rome soon to choose the next leader of the Catholic world. I loved it! with a very different ending than expected, which left me feeling good.

Today's quote:

In a world that demands our constant attention and presence, making brain fitness a priority is essential.

  2. Hello,
I love the Florida gang of cranes! The flowers are all beautiful.
I hope you feel better soon, keep going slowly.
Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend.

    1. Sorry to post my critters a day early, but tomorrow is a big day to honor independent booksellers.

  3. I love white flowers, especially among colors, to give a spark to the garden. Diffrent folks, diffrent strokes! I hope your breathing improves soon. I imagine the pressurized cabins you flew in might have been a bit stressful.

    1. Have finally been able to address the need for help in my lungs by using the little inhalers frequently. Everyone is saying it's due to recovery from pneumonia, and I must accept that these old lungs have to be given lots of TLC. Oh good, so glad to know why you like white flowers!

  4. White flowers show so well at night and go with anything. All the best on the health front.

    1. Ah ha, not having appreciated flowers at night, I am glad to know that. Somehow I like bright colors at this stage of my life. Thanks for good wishes for health! Same to you!

  5. A friend had a moon garden, filled with white flowers. It was magical.
I hope you get some helpful news from the doctor. It has to be frustrating and worrying. Sending hugs, Barb.

    1. The only night blooming flower I've ever been invited to see was a cereus I think. Thanks for your thoughtful comments and of course virtual hugs are always welcome!

  6. I used to think that loss of memory might be a good thing, I did not consider the possibility of losing instant recall as part of the equation. "why did I go to the porch?" Oh well, I get more steps in by wandering aimlessly, forgetfully. We substitute words a lot these days. We are so clever!
I do love the log home even in such poor condition one can see that it is a magnificent structure! I would live there!

    1. I feel one of the multitude of elders who are losing their mental capacities. It makes me want to cancel the referral, because I know there are so many who have worse problems. Yet I was taken by tears when considering the outlook of my own next few years (if I'm so lucky to have them.)

  7. The crane gang had me chuckling. Here, in season, we have gangs of wild turkeys roaming the streets & gardens wreaking havoc. Love the flowers. Granny Sue's mention of a moon garden sounds lovely. I wish we had space to create one. Only trouble would be the moonlight getting past all the street lights in the front yard, & those lighting up the grade school parking lot behind us. Oh well. I do hope you begin to feel better soon. My son had double pneumonia last December and he's still a bit short of breath, but has improved a lot. The Dr. told him he probably wouldn't be fully recovered for 6 months. So take heart. It will happen, but will take time.

    1. As I mentioned to some neighbors today, I'm glad to be alive to deal with these troubles...as opposed to the alternative. So I'll keep on keeping on...as long as I may. Since I'm an early to bed person, though I do have a midnight stroll to the bathroom, I seldom think of seeing things in the dark. But I missed my opportunity to see the stars probably while I was in CO. Shucks, I'll have to go back now!

  8. I love the fifth photo of the two different colours of rhododendron/azalea. Such showy shrubs but I like them. The crane gang made me laugh.

    1. That shrub just came out with two colors. I am thrilled, and don't know how it happened. I sure did see some cranes crossing streets in the Tampa area...they wonder where some of their nesting sites might have gone, maybe. But they still return there because there are still water features, though they may have become part of golf courses now!

  11. Hello Barb,
I do love this post and all the flower images. The Cranes are a pretty "gang" sight to see.
Thank you for sharing your link and critter post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank so much for leaving me a comment.

  14. I can't say I like white flowers too much, though white roses are nice. But that purple yellow iris (?) is too much. Such fluorescent things hurts my eyes! Hope you feel better soon.

(My story this weekend about postcards of aeroplanes in Iowa were not really real, but a type of exaggerated picture meant for fun not truth. Wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea. :—)
