Supreme Court's unanimous decision on legal option for abortion!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously preserved access to a medication that was used in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S. last year, in the court’s first abortion decision since conservative justices overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago.
The justices ruled that abortion opponents lacked the legal right to sue over the federal Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the medication, mifepristone, and the FDA’s subsequent actions to ease access to it.
The case had threatened to restrict access to mifepristone across the country, including in states where abortion remains legal.

June 24 is the 2nd anniversary of the Supremes overturning Roe v. Wade...leading to many difficulties for women in different states over the last 2 years!
Hi Barbara, Hope you're feeling better... Great decision by the Supreme Court today! My concern is that the medical association that sued didn't have the legal right to sue...weren't harmed by the drug or directly impacted. Some other group...or group of individuals will claim harm and will now sue. The positive is that it will take another year or two for another suit to work its way up to the Court. ReplyDeleteI agree. Don´t go back to the 1950´s. What if men were getting pregnant and go through the process. Maybe by being raped, maybe by knowing the baby will be disabled... I think things would be different. Glad here in Germany you have a choice.

ReplyDeleteThank goodness. At least for now women do not have to go back to risky herbal abortions. I remember reading about a woman who died from using parsley internally, of all things!
