Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! My winter garden against the living room windows. I let these little plants be my decorations for the season.

Second blooms

The two rose bushes (Knock-out type) have finally bloomed again. I didn't feel like clipping off the dead heads - the rose hips actually, so it's taken a while to get this second batch of flowers.

Today's quote:
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common -- this is my symphony.
-William Henry Channing, clergyman and reformer (25 May 1810-1884)

  2. Roses are great. We don't have any in our tiny place. The one we did have, more of a rugosa type, didn't do well. There is now a hosta in the location.

    1. There have been 3 different managers here since I moved in in 2016...but all the property is owned by a company from out of town. They renovated everything in 2016, which is how I got this lovely apt...the former tennant didn't want to deal with kitchen, bathroom being torn up, as well as new carpeting and painting everywhere...even new windows and doors. Anyway, nobody has been allowed to plant things in the ground since the big changes. They also did all new landscaping. But I think the former neighbor had planted the rose bushes next door about that time, and they left them there.
