The art which inspired the floral designer...

So to continue to the Asheville Art Museum for a current exhibit by Indigenous artists.
I admit, I was a bit weary by the time I looked at more photographs, mostly black and whites, but the huge photo collage by Ms. Guiterrez did catch my attention.
But in the permanent collection could be found this:

Whatever our individual troubles and challenges may be, it’s important to pause every now and then to appreciate all that we have, on every level. |
Shakti Gawain Today's Old Photo: Camping in 1991 in the Smoky Mountains National Park! (me actually!) |
...Clinging to the Mountains is a winner for me.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I was thrilled to see it as well!
DeleteYet more art! Were you perched unsteadily? It looks a bit temporary.
ReplyDeletePerched in the chair on top of the rock? well, steady enough for snacking to enjoy the view.
DeleteThat is an impressive piece of pottery. I hope you have a good Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIt is really a simple shape, made with slabs, but the glaze is what is best about it…a lost of which won’t show if you try sticking flowers inside however!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the ceramics and the art! Beautiful flowers and a great photo of you!
Happy Sunday, have a great week!
Welcome Eileen! Glad you enjoyed the art and flowers.
DeleteOh my, Barb. That first vase...and the pandemic one, just breathtaking. And i absolutely am delighted by the photo of you in 1991. We were young once, weren't we?
ReplyDeleteMany times my hair was naturally it's own color...but I believe here I had had a perm...as I don't have a curl in my own head. But while a working single mom, I did love having a vacation once in a while! Camping out of the trunk of the car, in a camping place where the tent, a picnic table, and my little stove would provide our home for a little while...those were such great times. We'd hike along, dabble our feet in chilling mountain streams...and just enjoy the days.
DeleteNice to see your sweet face in your red socks period, Dear
ReplyDeleteAh ha...and those canvass boots, which lasted a good 30 years also! Not the socks however!
DeleteWhat a cutie pie in the chair!!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your museum and gallery visits.
I learned early on that the choice of sitting at a picnic table or lying on an air-mattress and sleeping bag left my back complaining. So we toted some little folding chairs with us...and I was very grateful!
DeleteI love the old photo. The art is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I sometimes remember what I’m trying to share. Sometimes it escapes me.
DeleteSo much good art out there! Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteAnd it can be a bit overwhelming to see all at once. The flowers of course wouldn’t last long and I’m king of enjoying having the two exhibits trickle into July. Soon there won’t been any more of either however!!
