Not so Wordless Wednesday ?
The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990. This month, we pay tribute to the incredible impact this landmark civil rights law has had on the lives of individuals with disabilities. Join me to celebrate Disability Pride Month.

First the painting...

Then an arrangement of a different order at the Asheville Art Museum.
I think I preferred these hands to the ones done by Andrew Wyeth at the Asheville Museum of Art as seen in a previous blog.

Joanna Macy, at 96, is preparing to leave this life. She has been an ecologist, activist and teacher for many years. Here's a little snippet of what she has said:

A heated half brownie with two flavors of ice cream giving such a wonderful treat. Easy peasy too! I think this is the most decadent sweet I love most these days. Of course a slice of really good - you name it...!
What's your favorite sweet?

An old photo:
And by that October I was part of the 35th Cohort of Ornish Rehabilitation at our hospital. Here I had a heart monitor watching my heart as I would soon start more exercises. That wholistic rehab program meant stress relief, meditation, diet and exercise as ways to change my life in order to be healthy. I'm doing most of those (and only get one brownie a week and split it for 2 servings!) Unfortunately the Mission Hospital was acquired by HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) and became a "for-profit" venture, so the Ornish program was cut, and a simple exercise program continues for rehabilitation.
But I'm still a "wholistic" gal.
Yesterday I started having chiropractic treatments for my sore neck, especially when bending down! About most of western (and eastern) culture these days has people bending their necks down for phones. Mine started to hurt more and more, so I am going to a new woman in town, and I liked my first treatment a lot. Holistic wellness. That's what a whole person should have. She gave me three things to do for the next week. But the main thing she did was to push on some acupressure points which released some tension. I could just feel that melting away. She does a kinesiology approach to determine what and where to do things. I'll go back next week!
...celebrate Disability Pride Month before this woke celebration is eliminated. Keep your heart ticking.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good reminder...the woke celebration is counteracted by a drugged government...full of lies and disinformation.
DeleteI'm very glad you got that treatment. I had a lot of trouble with my neck from looking down to stitch, knit, read, etc, and found those pressure points. Great relief. And now I raise my work or reading with a pillow, much better.
ReplyDeleteI tried pillows of different varieties yesterday. It's a challenge!
DeleteI remember those recovery days. You have done well since then. I hope the new treatments go well.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do say a lot about my being alive to enjoy life still! Sorry we have to pay for some treatments, and not others. But I've decided in this case that I'm worth it.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThe art is beautiful, the Leaf Hands is interesting.
The brownie with ice cream would be my favorite treat, YUM!
I hope the treatment is helping the neck pain.
Take care, have a wonderful day!
So glad to see your comment a few minutes ago. This is a strange me, this summer...up before dawn each day! You have always been regularly here early each morning.
DeleteMy main health provider for several decades was a chiropractor kinesiologist acupressure guy. That man was amazing. He could zero in on my emotional state without me having to say a word.
ReplyDeleteA friend said I could try to get reimbursed through my insurance, if I can get an invoice with the codes on it. I don't think this outfit does anything with insurance, but I'll ask. I really enjoyed feeling so much better afterward!
DeleteGlad that the treatment is doing you good. Neck pain is not nice. Like the art and that slice of brownie with ice cream would be really nice right now. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not the only neck acher then. I am using a heating pad that heats in my microwave for my bent over symptoms.
ReplyDeleteI've embraced theraputic massage for my aches and pains including my neck. I think it helps.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that Mission is for profit.
ReplyDeleteMay your wellness increase! Wow! Those leaf hands are amazing. And so much more. Thank you for your vibrant posts of so many interests
