I'm not sure your sky is also blue, mine just has scattered clouds as I write this. Temperature is 60 F on Tues at 10 am. (It got up to 70!)

Personal news:
Health is doing ok. Isn't that a relief?
Technology has reared it's ugly head however...
My printer won't print anything. I called the geek squad where I bought it, just 2 years ago, and it's not on warrantee of course. I asked if the ink nozzles might be clogged, which has happened on other printers and they weren't able to be repaired. The ink levels are all good, but nothing happens when I ask it to do print head cleaning. The geek told me I might need a home visit. I asked how much. $99 to start. I laughed (sorry about that) in his face. I can get a new printer for that cost.
I had already gone to the store and purchased new ink cartridges.. The HP users guide is a 5 part document I've saved on my computer, but it didn't really help. But I even learned how to clean the little gold spots with a lint-free cloth on the ink cartridges.
I didn't put the new ink cartridges in.
Why?
Well, let's just say I wanted to weigh the cost of a new printer against the $41.00 I'd just spent on ink.
I texted one of my sons who has helped me with computer issues before. But after an hour and second text with no answer, I went on line to see what was available, new printer-wise that is.
I saw one that has all the bells and whistles, at the same store, for $59.00.
Right.
I ordered it, (a big decision without the moral/tech support of my son) as well as the 4 year geek warrantee (for $20) which says it will replace it if it fails. Sounds like I can take my ink back, and basically get this one free. Well, whenever the credit comes through for the ink. And they'll deliver the new one free. It's an Epson, and I'm tossing the HP.
The main problem is that I seldom print out anything. So the nozzles (or whatever) get dried up. The Epson's ink is more expensive too. But maybe it will be more user friendly...I now have to learn all the silly symbols that the LED screen will tell me. See you in the funny papers!

Today's quote:
Printers can be a royal pain. It’s 21F here at 5:30am. The house goes down to 59 overnight. I don’t know how low it would go if we didn’t keep the thermostat there. I do tend to get a wee bit cold, or at least I was at4:30 when I decided that no further sleep would be had.
ReplyDeleteBrrr. I'm happy to open the windows to 65 degrees F since the sun will heat them up (and me) Turned off the heat while doing so.
Delete...thanks for the reminder of what a blue sky looks like.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually blue right now, Fri. around 11:00. Sun will warm up my southfacing windows, so I've halfway opened them and turned off the heat. Going out in just two layer of shirts. May get to 70, but I doubt it.
DeleteGreat sky photo and quote. I am glad your health is good!
ReplyDeleteI have an Epson printer, so far it works well. The ink is expensive.
Happy Friday! Take care, have a happy day!
Yes, and I have to learn new symbols...like what do you press to print! Glad there was a guide somewhere. My glitch this time was just getting it to be on line. They say you can use a USB cable...ha! There's no USB outlet on the printer!
DeleteIt's for exactly that reason that I no longer have a printer. Mine was always clogging up and I used more (expensive) ink unclogging it that actually printing. It's sometimes a nuisance not having one but in emergency I could send a document to family or friends and get it printed for me.
ReplyDeleteYes, a rather expensive servant it is. Needed to print tax documents and actually of my friends, I'm the only nerdy one with printer these days! Not many people my age are actually geeks.
DeleteI gave up on my printer, similar reasons, I really didn't use it enough to keep it functional. I can get the few pages I need printed elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to wrap the silly thing up in it's plastic shipping bag after printing my tax documents.
DeleteSorry about your printer problems. I got rid of color printers years ago and bought a laserjet HP. I've had it for years and no problems at all. Of course it is just black and white but I can get photographs printed at Walgreens for just pennies. The toner cartridges are expensive but they last a long time. No more ink jet anything for me.
ReplyDeleteThose are good printers...I had one at the last place I worked.
DeleteWe ditched HP for Epson years ago. When I got my new mini mac it would no longer talk to the printer so we moved it to my husband's much older computer. Yay, I can print again, the very few times I need to just like you. I buy cheap ink at inkjets.com. The printer will object, tell you they aren't Epson cartridges but you just keep telling it to use them anyway and it will. Another trick I've learned is when the printer tells you to replace a specific color, just pull out the one that's in there and then stick it back in. There is still plenty of ink in those cartridges when it tells you to replace them. Eventually of course you do have to put in new ones.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks so much for these tips. As I mentioned in another reply, not many of my friends in my a ge group are tech savy. One pays for geek-squad availability whenever her various machines give trouble.
DeleteGlad to hear your health is good! The printer sounds like a good deal.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that sometimes life seems to work in one's favor. The stuff that politicians are up to is another matter completely.
DeleteTechnology is a wonderful thing when it's working and a curse when it's not! I have a Brother printer that's 4 years old and works like a champ. The ink is expensive, but supposedly lasts longer. It's crazy that you can buy a brand new printer for the price of the ink cartridges!!
ReplyDeleteI mentioned my recent purchase to an acquaintence tonight at a meeting, and he said they were about to purchase a Brother around $200. He's going to look at what mine does now.
DeleteWhen I moved here years ago, I gave my printer to a friend. I don't miss it and the ink was expensive back then too. When I need something printed I either do it at the library and it costs 20 cents a page. I find that I really don't need to print very much anymore.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to wrap the printer back up in the plastic it came in, to limit the amount of "air/humidity/heat" changes it has for those precious ink cartridges. Since I printed what I needed to, it will probably be quite a while before I use it again.
DeleteI have a brother and it is old reliable. Been there and done that. Buy ink. Wonder maybe I should just buy a new printer. Take ink back. Bought a new printer several times. Printers don't work when we need them the most. Odd?
ReplyDeleteI've heard that about Brother products before. I had two printers going out in today's household goods pickup. I am kind of sorry I didn't take them to a tech recycle place (which is held maybe twice a year somewhere in the area) where the minerals could at least be recycled.
DeleteYes, snowing here, again. I'm glad you are doing OK. At our age, this is all we can hope for!
ReplyDeleteYes, my printer kept having problems too. I finally gave up and just let it sit. I have printed a few things at the library, but mostly I just save Screen prints on my iPad.I can find them by searching for a keyword that’s on the page.
