Intriguing shot I found on the internet.

High wind blasts are bringing us another cold front (Thursday when I wrote this). And I have Christmas shopping to do!

Today's quote:
“I don’t think anybody can deny the impact of the climate crisis anymore,” Biden said. “Just look around: historic floods—I mean historic floods; more intense droughts; extreme heat; significant wildfires have caused significant damage like we’ve never seen before. It’s not only throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the United States, but in Canada and other parts of the world.”
“When I took office,” he said, “I directed my team to raise our game in how we lead and coordinate our responses to natural disasters…to ensure we [meet] the people where they are when they need our help the most.”

An Insurance company halts plan to put time limits on coverage for anesthesia during surgery - Dec 5 news via CNN
After sharp criticism from anesthesiologists, an insurance company is halting its plan to limit the amount of time it would cover anesthesia used in surgeries and procedures. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield said on Thursday it would no longer move forward with the policy change.
“There has been significant widespread misinformation about an update to our anesthesia policy. As a result, we have decided to not proceed with this policy change,” the company said in a statement. “To be clear, it never was and never will be the policy of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to not pay for medically necessary anesthesia services. The proposed update to the policy was only designed to clarify the appropriateness of anesthesia consistent with well-established clinical guidelines.”
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance representing Connecticut, New York and Missouri had previously said that, starting in February, it would deny any claims for anesthesia services that exceeded specific time limits set for surgeries and procedures.
“Anesthesiologists provide individualized care to every patient, carefully assessing the patient’s health prior to the surgery, looking at existing diseases and medical conditions to determine the resources and medical expertise needed, attending to the patient during the entire procedure, resolving unexpected complications that may arise and/or extend the duration of the surgery, and working to ensure that the patient is comfortable during recovery,” the American Society of Anesthesiologists said in a statement.
Today on Open Yesterday's Pages I celebrate a favorite author, James Lee Burke's birthday.
Dawn skies are breathtaking...as is the nerve of some insurance companies, whatever they are supposedly covering. Good quote
ReplyDeleteI love seeing other's posts of dawn skies, since I haven't a single east facing window in my apartment! Bah humbug to big insurance!
Delete...amen to Max Kennedy!!!
ReplyDeleteSums it up, he does!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies!
ReplyDeleteThanks, several from the web.
DeleteReally wonderful photo of the bees in the golden light of the sunburst!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I didn't take it, except from the internet. GUess I should have said so. Will rectify at once.
DeleteSuch a beautiful, artsy, photo with the sunflower, bees, and sun. The others are great as well.
ReplyDeleteTry living in Oklahoma where the red meat MAGA oil and gas folks are deep into the climate change denying thing. And I used to work in the industry.
Insurance is a very frustrating thing. Gaslighting reigns supreme as shown in your post.
Well, the dinosaurs only left us so much coal and oil. Maybe a few generations away when there just won't be any left. Better conserve all our forests while we can!
DeleteDawn from the Blue Ridge Parkway is absolutely beautiful. Fantastic shot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Not all mine, but I enjoy borrowing them from the internet.
DeleteHi Barbara, I agree that private (for profit) health insurance has lots of warts and imbedded gimmicks designed to reduce their expense, raise patients costs and that it is a frustrating system. However, I'm not sure about the government handling exclusively on their own either. It doesn't seem to manage any well either. Just talk to a handful of military vets who have to deal with the Veteran's Administration... It boggles my mind when I see a $1,000 insurance bill where Medicare pays $225 and my private insurance pays $102... The only reason that the bill was $1,000 in the first place is due to the way both Medicare and private insurance pay percentages or 'allowable' portions of the bill. If the health care provider billed the correct amount, they would receive just a pittance of what they needed to keep operating. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteI actually know someone in my family who is working on a newer version of Medicare programming in hopes of selling it to another state than where I live. It's very competitive out there. And the details are simply awesome...so yes, the system as it stands needs real help...and I hear from our friends in Canada and the UK that having government provided health care has its own problems
DeleteHave you followed the public reaction to the assassination of an insurance CEO? It’s obvious that people really hate health insurance companies. Almost everyone knows someone who has been harmed or frustrated by these companies. It sounds like there’s a revolution about to happen.
