More of the pretty and somewhat unusual, older homes in Grovemont, Swannanoa NC. Here's the explanation of Mr. Grove's intentional community.

It's not a laughing matter. Too many friends and relatives have suffered from this condition.
I do enjoy seeing pictures of houses, thank you.
ReplyDeleteYes, get a mammogram and remember there's much improved treatment now if you need it.
Glad you enjoyed the Grovemont houses. One friend has regular acupuncture appointments for part of her breast cancer treatment.
DeleteHaha. Coincidentally, someone I know will be having her puppies checked this month.
ReplyDeleteExcellent timing!
DeleteQuelle magnifique maison que celle qui se trouve sur la photo du haut. Et le jardin est magnifique
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked these houses, and a garden also.
Delete...Barbara, I like the first house with the "eye brow" dormer, but the picture of the dog's takes the cake!!!
ReplyDeleteThose pups are hilarious, I agree!
DeleteWhat beautiful homes those are.
ReplyDeleteI love this neighborhood. I finally got a good photo of my friend's home too...so shall have to continue taking more photos of other houses for another post!
DeleteLove the doggie photo. Nice variety of homes. Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely neighborhood. Funny, I seldom drive around the roads of homes near me. Glad you liked the pups!
DeleteLovely houses. Some of them look quite 'English' though your properties often have more space around them than we do here. You've a lot more land to be shared.
ReplyDeleteFrom the history of the area: According to Anne Chesky Smith’s 2013 book, Images of America: Swannanoa, 19 homes were constructed in the planned community. Today, 15 of the properties remain. “Though E.W. Grove’s dream of a quaint English village … was never fully realized,” Chesky Smith writes, “the Grovemont of today is still a web of streets anchored by a central park, which has been rebuilt to feature a playground, a walking path, and a playing field,” as well as the Swannanoa Library. (The building boom stopped when Grove died in 1927.)
DeleteVisiting your blog is like a break from everything I'm juggling right now. Thank you so much for your visits, comments, and support. Support. I can feel it and appreciate it at this most challenging time of my life. Aloha to you dear all best wishes
ReplyDeleteBlog friends share what we can. No chicken soup unfortunately. I'm thinking of making some for my friend who's having surgery (outpatient) on Thursday. Support is just what we neighbors do for each other, as best we can. As Ram Dass said, "We're all just walking each other home."
DeleteIsn't there a college there in Swannoa? Warren Wilson College? I forget what my father's connection was to that. Maybe someone he knew taught there.
ReplyDeleteYes, Warren Wilson College is located in Black Mountain, right next to Swannanoa...so glad you've heard of it. It's rather progressive, a farm college where all students work in some area of farming! I have friends who've also taught there.
