One cool morning and the change began

I sip my first coffee and look to see any glimpse of the mountain ridge through the leaves. No such luck. But what is that!

The trees outside my windows, Black Mountain, NC, Sept. 1, 2025

Suddenly the first maple leaves have changed to their beautiful red.

My purple orchid is striving to produce blooms...but cooler weather is slowing the efforts down.

However I have three beautiful variegated blooms still to enjoy!

  1. I can spot several trees that are changing. The others are just losing yellow leaves from the drought. I like the changes!

  7. We're seeing some tingeing, but I am afraid is more from drought than autumn. This isn't good.

  10. Leaves here are turning brown but it's too early really - it's the drought here.

  11. I have seen some small color changes here in NH, but not as many. Also becvause of the lack of rainfall, colors may not be as spectacular as in some years which may deter some of the leaf peppers from New England, but most likely not.

  12. Leaves are changing slowly and blowing off the trees. It's raining right now. :(

  13. Leaves are definitely changing here already, but mostly, I think, because of the dry weather.
