In 1963 I flew with Pan Am on the Boeing 707 and DC 8. Those jet airplanes were the change that made air travel more available, faster, and maybe more profitable. But alas, so many airlines went under within a few decades, and I don't remember why.
View of Craggy Gardens from visitor's center on Blue Ridge Parkway, 2013.
The Craggy Gardens picnic area has been inaccessible following the storms of Sept. 27, 2024. This shows how steep the grounds are, which go up behind me as well.
Sharing with Sepia Saturday and Saturday's Critters. What critters, you may ask?
Found on Facebook this week...
Hope you are well!
ReplyDeleteDoing ok, so far. Fixed breakfast, taking shower which has been sorely missed, with lots of little wipes-type washings. Taking it easy, very easy!
DeleteYou Gogh Girl!🤠Toes crossed you are at home, safe and sound!
ReplyDeleteYou never missed a blogging beat.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I don't think my scrambling to post from the iPad was that great...and I even bought the paid-for version. It still wouldn't load my photos, and when my trembly fingers closed off the draft, it didn't save it. Let's just say, blogger wasn't being my friend and I could definitely do without the stress.
DeleteI'm so glad you're back! Getting home makes a person feel better, also showering. Those wipes just don't do it!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm slowly doing the things that also need doing after a week away. Laundry is at least organized. Started doing dishes.
DeleteGood to 'see you' back ~ Lots of healing energy to you ~ be well ~

Thanks...I sure can use all the positive energies that are available!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute cat carrier! I am glad you are home, hubby always felt better at home and showering. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take good care of yourself, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Good to hear from you Eileen...and this is amazingly late in the day for you (though you probably made a comment to my earlier post!)
DeleteHooray you’re home! Hope no extra bugs latched on while you were in hospital. (Marcia from my iPad suffering from an intestinal bug that granddaughter brought to me on Thursday and it showed up today.)
ReplyDeleteYikes...that's horrible. I did wear a mask whenever I was out of my little room/cave.
DeleteNeat Craggy Gardens view, great Gogh jokes, & I love the cat in the sling or whatever those things are called. :))
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure little kitty was happy about the carrier thing. But it is cute.
DeleteGlad you are home!! Take it easy!
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly doing things, but can only stand up doing the kitchen things for a little bit, then it's back to the rocker.
DeleteHope you're feeling "ok"(-ish). My first experience of flying was in 1967 (I was 11 going on 12), to Spain, with my parents and brother. My dad was going there for some work conference but managed to combine it with a holiday week. We also flew to England twice in the early 1970s, and in the late 70s I flew up to the north of Sweden on my own. Since then - nearly 50 years! - I've not been up in the air at all!
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't have any negative experiences flying, as the reason you've stayed on the ground since then. But that is pretty amazing these days, I guess, to be so well "grounded."
DeleteHome sweet home, such a great feeling. Take it slow and easy.
ReplyDeleteGood advice. Baby steps is my theory. But today they are limited to how long my stamina lasts, then plop into a chair again. Two naps so far as well!
DeleteCraggy gardens is one of the most beautiful places ...anywhere! And I smiled a lot and then had to Gogh. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've enjoyed Craggy Gardens in the springtime just a few times...the Rhododendron is very pretty up there, not to mention the vistas looking west.
DeleteI remember flying when everyone dressed up. Things sure have changed since then. Nice kitty carrier.
ReplyDeleteAlso remember how people were so careful with the overhead bins, gently placing a few things up there and careful not to squash those of other people! Ha! Today it's a free for all. JanF
ReplyDeleteThank you for the old PAA photo, I flew with PanAm 1967 -1971. That was the best of times. It's just so different today.JanF
ReplyDeleteGlad you're home. Interesting that the Gogh joke doesn't work in 'British English' as we say Van Goff not Van Go. But it's still clever.
ReplyDeleteWow! I hadn't read very far when I realized I had missed a few episodes in your story, Barb, so I had to go back a few days and review! I'm so very happy that you are back home again. I hope the tests and treatments will help. Hospitals are never the vacation resort they sometimes pretend to be. At least you got to experience a beautiful sunrise over the Pisgah range.
ReplyDeleteThat kitten is so funny!
