As a high school junior, my youngest granddaughter was a member of the State Championship girls Lacrosse team in Columbus OH.
She also played hockey.
She and her 2 older sisters (not in photo) also had started out with gymnastics very young. Here Kate is kneeling to left of the trophy with pink hairbow.
My son Russ is their father. Here he is in a yearbook photo from the 1980s...see the curly haired guy in front row center? Russ is behind him leaning toward him to the right.
Sharing with Sepia Saturday this week!!
And Alan Burnett our host says:
It's a team game, one where we all pull together, one where we share our favourite old photographs with fellow enthusiasts. That's Sepia Saturday - and that is also our theme for this week. as this is Sepia Saturday, however, it is not like most other games. There are no rules. You can therefore either follow our theme image or completely ignore it. It's up to you. All we ask is that you share an old photograph on or around Saturday the 20th September 2025 and add a link to the list.

For Saturday's Critters - sorry, I haven't been out much, nor interacted with any animals! Old internet photos here!

West Indian Manatees
Just thinking that I have recently done two sepia doorway photos. I’ll get them up sometime, I expect.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing them!
Delete...have a great day, proud grandma!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom. I just updated to add a few critters. Gotta connect with the critter folks!
DeleteI know you are enjoying spending time with them. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI get to see the photos from their parents usually! I was so glad to spend a week with some of them two years ago.
DeleteSuch active people! My late husband was the nearest I ever got to relatives in sports.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how some people just love being involved in sports, and others just want to win at video games.
DeleteIt is nice to see all your grandchildren! Some of your old critters images are new to me.
ReplyDeleteI love the manatees. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Good to see the Saturday's Critters each week, Eileen.!

DeleteThese are such wonderful photos! It's so cool that you have all these memories of your family's different interests. Your granddaughter being on a state championship lacrosse team is so impressive! And the photo of your son is a great throwback. Thanks for sharing these glimpses into your family's history!

I love all my family, no matter what their interests might be.
DeleteLove the lacrosse picture!
ReplyDeleteThe girls went on to win again the next year, but I don't have those photos.
DeleteGorgeous grands. Congratulations to the Lacrosse player!
ReplyDeleteNow that she's a freshman in college, she's looking to stay on a club team for hockey.
DeleteNice to see some of your grandies. They sound a talented lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am completely enamored by their skills!
DeleteLove the family photos. You can see the facial similarities that your grands have with you. Hav a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh I never noticed that! Thanks for the info, Bill!
DeleteA wonderful happy collection of family members enjoying themselves as part of a team. - a great match to this week’s prompt.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky that our sporting grandkids lived close enough we could attend a good many of their games. I remember one fall Pop Warner type football game where we were sitting in the stands under a canopy to keep as dry as possible from the rain when thunder & lightning came along. The game was paused, of course, but I looked around us in the stands. There we were sitting under a metal framed canopy set up on metal bleachers & I wondered how safe we were??? Luckily we were fine. The lightning passed, the game resumed, & we sat there wrapped up to keep warm & dry cheering the kids on! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you all were safe from the lightening! I've loved visiting my grands and cheering them through various games!
DeleteWonderful photos to measure the passage of time. I regret that my son never got into any team sports, just a few months of middle school youth basketball where his above-average height was more of an impediment than an advantage since he never got the coordination to go with it. I am proud that he learned to ride a unicycle entirely on his own self-determination and became very good at it.
