The iPhone says this is a Brown Thrasher. The house behind it was across the street quite a way away, but dear old phone focused more on it.

One local luncheon restaurant now has glass glasses for our water with lemon (lemon is a habit I started over 10 years ago...whenever we no longer received a glass of water without having to order it.)
My sistahs, Helen (in red) and Teresa took me for a birthday lunch as one of our favorite restaurants, the Veranda.
Though their soup and sandwiches are sooo good, I always want to take home a piece of carrot cake (whatever I don't eat while sitting there!)
And another favorite restaurant here in Black Mountain, is Ole's Guacamole...where they use plastic glasses for water. But they also have a salsa bar with everything imaginable.

As we learn to have compassion for ourselves, the circle of compassion for others – what and whom we can work with, and how – becomes wider. |

Nice birthday party there! Happy B again.
ReplyDeleteIt’s fun to get gift cards to favorite restaurants! We just end up celebrating any time.
DeleteI take that sistahs are probably not sisters.
ReplyDeleteVery perceptive, as sistahs are our chosen relationship as compared to those were born with!
Delete...a neat birthday celebration. Thanks for the Flower Fairies series by Cicely Mary Barker!
ReplyDeleteRye Ciceky Mart Barker fairies are one I discovered as a young mother. Alas little boys weren’t all that interested!
DeleteI have eaten at Ole Guacamole! And enjoyed it. They were still closed for repair and renovations when we were there a few months ago. Good to see it's open again.
ReplyDeleteTheir second location in Black Mountain is a bit west of town, and they hope to open the original Oles’ by the anniversary of the hurricane September 27. The menu is the same in this other location and of course locals want to support them!
DeleteYour new banner is really gorgeous and I enjoyed your post! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the gifts of Mother Nature! Have a good weekend yourself!

ReplyDeleteBirthday week/month- Your cake to take looks incredible. Carrot cake is a crowd pleaser! Though it has little to do with carrot ...It is my favorite , too. have a lovely week/month Birthday! Be well.
Thanks so much! I like buying one slice since there aren’t enough friends at this point to eat a whole cake if I had a party. With various medical issues I’m quite happy to go to a restaurant where the fare is reasonable and the food is well prepared! Oh and locally owned too!
DeleteI saw your post title and realized I had the same thought. Another week gone by in my life. What do I have to show for it? Well, day to day living tasks and the gift of having granddaughter #1 to teach on Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteIt’s amazing how few daily living tasks im doing today - some fever has hit me so im just vegging out hoping Tylenol works.
DeleteAnd now I'm craving carrot cake . . .
ReplyDeleteI know! It looks just as moist and delicious as it is!
DeleteGreat capture of the Brown Thrasher. It is always a treat to see a Monarch butterfly. That carrot cake looks delicious. I like lemon in my water. Great photos of you and your friends. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have at least one critter to share today!
DeleteGlad you had a wonderful birthday celebration. The carrot cake looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThank you, that cake is always delicious!
DeleteYour carrot cake looks so scrumptious! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThrashers, monarchs, and good friends!
ReplyDeleteGosh, my brain... Happy Birthday!
