DeleteI looked up ‘peruse’ once. I found that it is one of those words that can have opposite meanings, but the ‘read carefully’ meaning is becoming dominant.
ReplyDeleteI once thought that ‘penultimate’ meant better than ‘ultimate.’ I also thought that ‘tawdry’ was synonymous with ‘tardy’. 😀
Me too, thinking penultimate was one better than, but only to find out it’s one less than!

ReplyDeleteDidn't know CO also had a UFO area. I just saw NCIS Sidney which featured an Australian UFO area...news to me also. Guess they pop up wherever people will give interest.
DeleteHi Barbara, Visiting after seeing your blog on NaBloPoMo. That sign is wacky. My son is in Omaha right now for college and one just graduated from the same place in May. Had to share, because I'm in Omaha on occasion. That list of words actual meanings was eye opening. Great quote.
