Hendersonville NC has a rather large (I think) downtown shopping area, though there were closed signs and boarded over windows still on a few shops. But with blocks of shops on both sides, they definitely outnumber Black Mountain.
After a difficult session of picking out penny candy at Mast General Store, (where it's 12.99 a pound now) we had to relax in some of their rockers.
A shop that was closed. It was Wednesday!
I'd never seen a hydrangea bush with so many different colors. I had to wonder how they did that!
At the deli early we didn't have to stand in line. Here T. had a roast beef with au jus sanwich.
My sandwich was a smoked salmon BLT...but the salmon didn't come through tastewise as much as the wonderful bacon!
We checked out rocks and crystals, but didn't buy anything.
And gave some patronage to the bakery!
A nice mural in the bakery
Then I navigated us into the wrong area, and we eventually found a road going to Asheville.
Beautiful photos of the flowers, the hydrangea looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe beef sandwich looks yummy.
Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend.
I would think that was a most pleasant outing for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you did the trip so I didn't have to! Your friend looks pretty content with her rocker. Now I'm wondering about the hydrangea, too.
ReplyDelete...the color of that hydrangea's flowers is dependent on the ph of the soil. Acidic soils produces blue flowers and alkaline produces pink. That plant seems a bit confused.
ReplyDeleteGood quote
ReplyDeleteLooks like you two had a lovely day in Hendersonville. Are you visitors or live nearby?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice town. Great photos and quote.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice town to wander through. There is nothing better than good deli sandwiches and a bakery.
ReplyDeleteHendersonville looks fun and interesting. I like the hydrangea bush blooms! I guess there is no such thing as penny candy anymore (especially since it sounds like there will be no more pennies in our future!).
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous hydrangea!
