Bearded Iris "Grape Expectations." from the internet
Each of these dots is a galaxy! No reason to post, but I just liked it!
All three of my sons have beards. Today is the birthday of Marty, my oldest.
For Russ,' (his next younger brother's) wedding 25 years ago (I know - WHAT!!) Marty was the only one with a furry chin.
Marty really likes to use good knives...here he's working on a piece of beef.
And a couple of years ago I visited Marty and his wife, Barbara, for Christmas. Here they receive the pottery I made. Now I don't have it in my house, and who knows where they might stash it (or smash it!) But it's their problem now.
I am not sending any more pottery to my relatives - they've all said as much!
----------------
I hope Marty has a very happy birthday. Sending lots of love his way!
Today's quote:
“If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing.” - Marc Chagall And some Chagall art: Woman and Bird,Marc Chagall on ceramic tile, 1951 ------- "It's the birthday of author Ian Fleming, born in London in 1908. His family enjoyed wealth and social standing; his father Valentine was a Member of Parliament and when he died in World War I, Winston Churchill wrote his obituary. All doors were open to young Ian, and he worked as a foreign journalist, a banker, a stockbroker, a high-ranking officer and assistant to the director of British naval intelligence, and foreign manager of London's Sunday Times before he took up the career, and the character, that would make him famous. Casino Royale (1953) was the first of his many "James Bond" novels, which featured the playboy spy — code name "007" — and a host of fast cars, nifty gadgets, and hot women."(Writer's Almanac 2014) Fleming died Aug 12, 1964, when my son Marty was 2-1/2 months old. It wasn't for many years before he (Marty) saw the 007 movies, but his mom and dad enjoyed them as soon as they came out. So glad none of my sons became spies! |
Of course babies can smile..they learn quickly from us!
ReplyDeleteAh, of course!
DeleteHappy birthday to Marty! Love the flowers! Wonderful photos of your family. Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks - happy hump day to you!
Delete...and I have a Santa beard!
ReplyDeleteHo ho ho...that's awesome!
DeleteHappy birthday to Marty! He's a handsome guy, and oh that baby smile!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of beards. Larry now has one and I dislike it very much. Won't kiss him, lol! But beards seem to be all the thing these days.
Today's quote is a good one to remember.
I used to have friends who would grow a beard in winter, but shave it off when it became hot in the summertime. Personally I like men in beards...maybe had some influence on my sons!
DeleteYour pottery gift to Marty and Barbara is lovely, you are very talented. Audrey is a gorgeous looking young woman. JanF
ReplyDeleteThanks...I'm glad that so many pieces of pottery are in family cupboards. Audrey is indeed beautiful, and will start her second year of teaching 5th graders in the fall. All my granddaughters are stunning!
DeleteI loved the books when I first read them. Today I'm aware of how dated the viewpoint is and how annoying 007 is.
ReplyDeleteBefore all the AI and fake tricks on movies, these stunts were eye catching. And in the 60s and 70s I thought the sexuality was kind of fun...but of course have learned how these violent movies represent an archaic viewpoint...the guy had been born before either of my parents!
DeleteThere was a time when we had our second Christmas with Sue’s family. It was a trip, and we had to stay over. Oddly enough, me and my 4 BiLs all had beards. When Shauna’s beardless boyfriend dropped by, he seemed a bit out of place.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been fun, having group photos of all you bearded guys less one!
DeleteI prefer the bearded iris to actual beards! It's a gorgeous colour.
ReplyDeleteWell that's a comparison I missed!
DeleteHope Marty is enjoying his big day. The family photos are nice to see. I'm not a big fan of shaving so I've had a beard for over 45 years. I did shave once when my daughter was very small and she cried and didn't recognize me. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny that your chin was unrecognizable when bare! You obviously sport a beard which is part of your personality!
DeleteYou produced a handsome bunch of sons.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Marty!
