Climate Week is just around the corner, with world leaders gathering in New York City. In less than two weeks, we kick off a week in New York, across the country, and around the world that will inspire action and raise awareness for climate change. Together we hope to send a message to world leaders, President Biden, and state governors that it’s time to put an end to fossil fuels and invest in a clean sustainable future for all.
You can make a difference and attend a local event or initiative happening in your area. Visit the full map here, and see if there is an event near you that you can attend as early as next week. Many Third Act Working Groups are helping organize and turnout for local events.
The theme of this year’s Climate Week is “We Can. We Will.” Let’s work together to help push our elected leaders to step up and accelerate actions to protect our planet for future generations. |
P.S. While there was good news to celebrate this week when President Biden canceled the seven remaining oil and gas leases in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, we have more work to do to stop the expansion of fossil fuels and advance a just transition. ------------------------ The above is the newsletter from: Third Act PO Box 445 Nassau, NY 12123 United States Here's the information about our local action in Asheville NC: Rally to End the Merciless, Relentless, Senseless War on NaturePack Square at the corner of Biltmore and Patton Avenues in downtown Asheville, In front of the old UnVance Monument, Asheville, NC, North Carolina 28801 Pack Square Parking, Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC, USA Sept. 17, 1pm to 3pm UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres recently called for a meeting of nations at the UN in New York for mid September to put an end to fossil fuels. In his address he used the title of our Asheville action. So on September 17 tens of thousands of people are gathering in NY to support his call and we want our action to coincide with NY. Please bring your family, friends, voices, banners and signs. |
Biden has been doing some great things! Take care, enjoy your day and have a great new week!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that he's pushing infrastructures for third world areas at the G-20.
Delete...there sure is a huge divide on this issue.
ReplyDeleteAs long as there are opportunities in the alternative energy marketplace, and those working in the fossil fuel industries are pointed into those directions, it will only mean stock-holders will suffer as the change is made. Of course stock-holders are pretty powerful, so it's still going to take time! Or maybe the civilization we're used to will collapse.
