The Bluebird of Happiness

Fortunate are those who have bluebirds nearby...nesting, flitting with their wonderful colors all about!

So I have made a few with clay...and this is the one sitting on my desk.

He was thrown, then altered! Maco Stroke N Coat glazes. And yes, he brings a smile whenever I glance his way!

The bluebird bowl, sold at the Tailgate Market, Mudbuddies Booth

I gave a tiny Bluebird of Happiness to our new minister to welcome him many years ago.

    1. It was for sale about 20 minutes before it was gone. Lots of work there in the painted glazes.

  3. You reminded me that I spied some bluebirds in the neighbors yard last week. No sign of them since.

    1. I love seeing them flit by, and sometimes land for a moment where I can hear them sing. But never long enough, or close enough for a good photo!

    1. Thanks, it's got several other friends along the desk top...a dragon, sea shells, a magic wand, a tiny bird, a jeweled tree, a couple of fairies, and a llama.

  6. Thank you so much for this wonderful, encouraging post and those sweet birds from your desk, Barbara. My husband has graduated from hospice which means that nothing has changed really, just that he is lingering and hanging in there. He will remain at the Care Home but a different nurse will visit him weekly. This whole thing is so challenging. I really appreciate your companionship online. Aloha!

    1. I was thinking of how the cells that make up my current existence will return to some other form when I'm no longer alive...perhaps to grow a plant or two if I'm lucky. The borrowing of matter for this lifetime is so interesting...and how all the parts of me fit together and function more or less...just chemicals and muscles and bones. But the me behind all the parts is not just the parts. So perhaps it's a soul, or a being which continues after death, or perhaps just a bunch of electrical impulses that make up an ego...but the sharing of me-ness is limited to just this time and place. So glad to have blogs to be with others here!

    1. Thanks. It's a nice thing to think of birds, and then replicate their qualities. Who first decided a blue bird represented happiness? I'll agree with them.
