A self-portrait by my son, Tai Rogers. He's now a high school art teacher, a challenge for which he's quite capable. But the logistics are somewhat daunting as he begins this new avenue of endeavor.
As winter lingers (though a respite of 70F degree days has surprised us) this redbud has just it's own limbs to show still. It lives near our Black Mountain Library. Thanks for all the positive feedback about the divine feminine and Women's Day last Sunday. It really touched my heart. Especially since I heard that day of two deaths of dear ones, one a sweet pet, the other a husband of a blogger. There are now empty spaces in my friends' lives. And it reminds me how easily we can lose one another. Give out some hugs today!
Yes the Bradford Pear is beginning to blossom. Will we have more freezing weather? Due Thursday night this week!
Lunch back in the dining room at the Lakeview Senior Center! Here Trivia, the manager, interviews a new participant.
Wandering around to say hi, or taking a seat and catching up with others, the group of seniors was so happy to be together again!

Life
gifts me with breath.
All i have to do is allow it in.
I have been holding my breath long enough,
afraid of life itself...

Many of us seem to be posting about weather.
ReplyDeleteTis of interest, especially after lots of cold grey days. Hope you didn't have a bad storm.
DeleteYour son is a talented artist, I see! Good luck to him on his new endeavour as an art teacher. Those "bee facts" are amazing and sobering.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite proud of his abilities, and glad he's passing them to a new generations. Yes, each teaspoon of honey is more amazing after reading that.
DeleteHello Barb,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, I love your new header scene and photo! We are just starting to see signs of Spring popping up, but we may have cold weather again next week. Your son's art is wonderful. Take care, have a great day!
It's been so nice to have this respite, and see the flowers already. I'll post more as soon as I can, though the weather may have turned again!
Delete...I wish your son well, we need good art teachers!
ReplyDeleteThanks. With so many programs cut from curriculums, (curricula) it is so important to allow kids to see their creativity is still important.
DeleteI hope Tai enjoys his teaching. Good art teachers are important. What did he do before? Something in the art world I bet.
ReplyDeleteHe's taught at college level, and then was a liason in a program for businesses/industries/college programs and helping high school kids decide what to do after graduation.
DeleteTalented man, that son of yours! Here's hoping his new path brings a lot of satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteI love that last quote from Lori Deschene.
I hope he enjoys this new direction in his life. Yes yes that quote is true.
DeleteLooks like Barbara hoarded ALL of the tissues!
ReplyDeleteMr. Rodgers portrait is fabulous! Colors are soothing actually. what a sweet face. Thoughtful expression.
With taking mutineers to help the cough, I also have a running nose! The napkins to the right cover Judy’s donut. Yes, Tai has a thoughtful side.
DeleteDarn auto-correct! Mucinex!
DeleteWishing your son all the best in his art teaching career. Spring is slow here this year, we have warnings for high winds and rain. The weather is plainly miserable.
ReplyDeleteWeather these days anywhere seems between beautiful and terrible, with a strong leaning to the latter
DeleteBest wishes to your son in his new career. I do hope he finds it fulfilling. Teachers are so crucial.
ReplyDeleteThanks…I also hope he finds this rewarding. I know he watched Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood - I wonder how many high schoolers did.
DeleteBest wishes to Tai. A good teacher is like a beacon.
ReplyDeleteYes, finding good teachers who are recognized and well paid is important!
DeleteGood luck to your son - what a wonderful self portrait! And so great to see you all back at the senior center, too!
