"You can best serve civilization by being against what usually passes for it." Wendell Berry
I woke in wee hours to do the necessary and couldn't even stand up...the room was revolving at a cant that kept going this way and that. I gingerly held on to furniture, and shuffled slowly into bathroom and back. When I again woke at dawn, I didn't even want to turn my head...but eventually was brave enough to move and found the dread dizzies had left. A good friend has had trouble with vertigo and has been taking Meclazine. I knew I had some of it, but would have to turn on light and look for it at 4 am, so I just went back to bed. So far this morning the world has stayed right side up. Sorry, this was supposed to be wordless!
I love the flowers, the pool and clubhouse look nice. Have you been swimming?
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day!
No pool swimming for me with my reaction to chemicals limiting my breathing. This is just the walk along to the senior site...pool on one side, flowers and lake on the other.
DeleteSo sorry about the dizziness. No fun at all. I'm glad it seems to have left.
ReplyDeleteMust continue to push fluids, that's all I can think of at this point. (The the resultant urination every 2 hours!)
DeleteThis sounds something like what happened to me although I wasn't exactly dizzy.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you as the room was spinning. I was determined not to fall since the phone was on the charger on the other side of the room! But bladder was also demanding! I haven't ever had such a severe attack of vertigo.
Delete...amen to Wendall Berry!
ReplyDeleteI do like what he has to say, every time I see him quoted!
DeleteHi Barbara, Over the past couple of years I too have had a few issues with 'the dizzies'. Not fun and fairly scary too! Drinking lots of water...with the expected outflow...is the price I've paid to keep the dizzies away. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteIt's just about all we can do!
DeleteGlad you managed not to fall last night and that the event is over.
ReplyDeleteI guess I should call the Doc and let them know it happened. Today I'm feeling quite ok, and walking a bit more than yesterday.
DeleteThat is good. The weather here in France is helping me hydrate..with resulting night visit...and drinking water when I've done plus a glass as soon as I wake.. isn't it surprising how much we need...and we are made of over 90% water!!
DeleteIt's still pretty hot which of course adds to dehydrating circumstances. My C-Pap at night often leaves me with a dry mouth, though it has a little water reservoir to add some moisture to the air I breathe. But I guess by hour 6 it may be pretty low.
DeleteI have had bouts of vertigo, usually for a time after having had anesthesia.
ReplyDeleteWhen I feel dizzy when I get up, I do several repetitions of Epley maneuver.
It depositions the crystals in the inner ear. You can find the directions online.
Thanks, I did look it up. I've since been to the doctor this afternoon to have neurological symptoms checked out, which were negative.
DeleteRepositions not depositions
ReplyDeleteNothing worse than dizziness - and frightening when you're on your own. I feel for you!
ReplyDeleteYes, and not having access to the phone in case I fell. I'm going to start charging it before I go to bed, so I can have it with me on my bathroom trips.
DeleteDizziness is scary glad you didn't fall or get hurt. Calling the doctor is a great idea. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt was scary, and fortunately hasn't returned. But I'm still a bit fuzzy headed.
