A farm right in town

The Bush Farmhouse Restaurant, Black Mountain NC

A local restaurant (The Bush Farmhouse) has patio seating, and there are a few farm animals roaming among the tables.

Today's quote:

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others, at whatever cost.

An old photo:

Fun at Disney World, waiting or resting. I act like I'm going to pour water on my mother, while Marty sits on the wall and does something with his foot in front of Russ' face. A carousel behind us was not one of the rides we went on.

Having reached some kind of milestone with yesterday's 3000th posting, I'm backing down a bit from some of my usual blogging. Oh yes, you'll see me here still... but perhaps a bit differently. I will still check in on my friend bloggers!

    1. Well, not being a chicken, I guess I might try wandering a bit...but certainly will not be crossing the road, rather driving along it!

  4. I love that old photo...what fun you had and good memories. I think the restaurant with farm animals is pretty neat too. I only post once a week now and that suits me. I love your blog!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I'll keep an eye out for your posts! I wonder if people take their kids to that restaurant and if they cause the animals any problems. I love little ones, but when I see vacationing families, often with 4-6 kids who've been cooped up in cars for hours, sometimes it is overwhelming for them, and me!

  5. Hi Barbara, My wife would be 'all in' in favor of The Bush Farmhouse Restaurant! She could get her critter fix and have lunch too... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

    1. It is a restaurant I've visited just a few times, as it's a bit pricey and the dishes aren't geared to my tastes that much. But of course it's like a petting zoo in a way!

  6. Hello,
I love the donkeys, they are adorable critters. The hog looks huge.
Cute shot of you with your mother. Did I mention I love your header photo?
Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.

    1. Hi to you also Eileen. The times we had fun together (for the camera?) were few and far between with my mother and myself. Glad you enjoyed these animals.

    1. They are very sweet, and soft to pet. I did like that we were invited to pet them.

    1. I'm thinking of how children haven't been taught how to behave around farm animals...but perhaps parental guidance, as well as the owners being there will provide them some simple touching without being rambunctious ...no rides probably!

  9. Congratulations 🎉 Barbara on your milestone posting! The restaurant looks like an interesting place to visit especially with that cute donkey on the grounds.
