Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! Flat Creek in November, 2024. Much changed by the force of the hurricane floods in Sept. 2024. The deck of the bridge is now under that pile of debris.

Roses are red...

Darn the digital revolution which makes a pure red (think of fire engine red) into a slightly pinkish red. But they are still bright to look at.

Today's quote:

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
. -Dwight D. Eisenhower, US general and 34th president (14 Oct 1890-1969)

    1. This is the prime of the first blooms...which will all die back and we'll have some time before the next ones come open.

  3. Thanks for the roses, but especially for the Eisenhower quote. We seem to be incapable of grasping this simple truth.

    1. I was surprised to see he said that!! It's a great quote that punches right at the truth of war.

    1. Thanks Robin! Glad you enjoyed them. I looked really closely without the phone yesterday, and they really are on the pinkish side of red!

  5. They are pretty!

I'm actually not surprised Ike would say that. As a career soldier turned politician he was able to pivot his world view from soldier to civilian. It's one of his gifts, and part of what made him such a great president. He would not recognize what's become of his party.
