I'm reminded of how popular getting in the water is this time of year!
Time to scroll through some memories already shared a long time ago. My St. Louis MO family came from Houston TX, so the hot humid summers did require lots of fans, but we survived. But one year we also took a real family vacation (Here) to Black River Lodge.
I offer the photos from that enjoyable pastime in the crystal cold shallow waters.
Around 1954-56 (not as early as 50 when my little sis, shown here would have been just 4...she's at least 6-8 here.) I'm on the far right in the bathing cap, thus of an age (by 11-12) when I put my hair in rollers at night already...for the next **-teen years!
Yes, Black River Lodge is still in business. Here's their link.
Now I'm more relaxed, stretched out on the float with my sunglasses on also!
Mom didn't go in the water once...but apparently had some good books to read. It wasn't until later, when I invited her to visit me in Miami FL during my first home-away-from home that she wore a swim suit and went into the ocean. I'm not sure if she could swim, now that I think about it.
Dad had shorts so he decided to wade. But apparently his ankles were all that got wet...it was a bit deeper in other spots! We took turns using the Brownie box camera!
And here I floated with my ears uncovered by the dratted bathing cap!
Sharing with Sepia Saturday this week!
