View from my tiny balcony, April 11, 2026. The steep slope my apartment building sits on reminds me that this is an ancient river valley, and perhaps where I sit once was the bank of a bigger Swannanoa River than the one of today.

Colorful azaleas
A huge multiple-bushes combined is located between my apartment and my next door neighbor.
And these are the bushes in front of my apartment.
Today's quote:
But I also say this: that light is an invitation to happiness, and that happiness,
when it's done right, is a kind of holiness, palpable and redemptive.
Hello, Barbara
ReplyDeleteThe azaleas look so pretty, we have a small one that has this similar color. Great quote! Have a happy day!
There were many more blooms in the past, before the eager landscape crew shaved back everything.
Delete...they sure grow well in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteNorth Carolina has lots of good soil, rain, and warm weather (when it's not cold!)
Deleteglorious
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteBoth this wonderful burst of colour and the Mary Oliver quote are a great way to start my day.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them...me too!
DeleteWow! Someday I'll get to photograph the rhododendrons that bloom here. No azaleas around here.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, please do.
DeleteBeautiful! They evidently like where they are.
ReplyDeleteThese seem to be doing better on the shady side (facing north) than the ones on the sunny side which get much more heat.
DeleteBeautiful azaleas! Love the color.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of bouganvillas which have similar bright colors.
DeleteI love Mary Oliver, and the color of those azaleas. (one of my favorites)
ReplyDeletePretty azaleas and a great quote.
ReplyDeleteThey're very pretty.
