And for Skywatch Friday...let's look a bit closer at Lake Tomahawk.
Somebody was honking up a storm. These were tiny little goslings to have been way out in the lake.
It may have been this lone goose, or maybe the family's protective ones. I imagined that the lone goose might have been their son or daughter from last year, and wanting their parent's attention. Or something else only geese know about...
Little hummers are like miracles of nature!

ReplyDeleteThere is some truth to any little youngsters being cute, just so their parents will stick around till they are teens then boot them out!
DeleteMy hummingbird feeder is so busy right now. The little guys dip and sip all day long.
ReplyDeleteI just heard what I know must have been a pileated woodpecker a few minutes ago but I couldn't see it. I did see one the other day but I could not get a picture through the screen.
There is something so brave and funny and sweet about baby ducklings, practicing their paddling under Mama's eye.
I wish I could commit to keeping up a hummingbird feeder, but right now I'm focused on my own feeding needs. The feeder sits inside waiting for better health so I can be consistent for the tiny little guys. I don't want to let the nectar stuff grow bacteria, like happens inside my lungs!

I've seen one monarch flying by so far. I should perch somewhere near milkweed to see if I can get some photos of them!
DeleteI find hummingbirds fascinating as we don't have them here :) Butterflies are amazing creatures as well, alas we've had a lot less of those around in later years than we used to, which is rather worrying.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a bit of increase in Monarchs, but they sure did decrease for years before that.
DeleteNo hummers or monarchs here yet. We do have an abundance of swallowtails.

DeleteHummingbirds are a rare and exciting sight here.I usually spot them around four in the afternoon, but the sighting is so brief you have to be already looking the right way to catch thrm!
