The old buildings, etc.

A friend's car had had the back bumper pulled off by a bear, apparently. So she needed to get it reattached at an auto place that did body work. I followed her to Gray's Valley in Ridgecrest NC where lots of different Gray families live and work. This old out-building caught my artist's eye.

Some farming type outbuildings, and different wings where different things were stored. They look unused today.

You could always find your shoes in the dark, if these were yours instead of the dad at the optometrist office.

Residents of Black Mountain are known to drive around with flags flying. At least these seem totally patriotic (I think the black one is for MIA)

Below are some good books that I just gave to my son Russ and his family.

And another old building!! Thanks Mesa Verde Cliff Palace.

Today's quote:

Finding time to be as naked as the day you were born can awaken feelings of contentment, freedom, and self-love.

  1. I have seen damage done to cars by the bears. The Cliff Palace is amazing.

    1. It's amazing that the bumper was completely pulled off, but no scratch marks on the paint!

  2. Wondering if the bear sat on it. I doubt he collided with it.
Air bathing, strolling about naked after a shower is great self care.

    1. It might have happened that way, as one of the brackets was completely bent. I'll have to try air bathing sometime!

  3. ...some residents of Black Mountain that drive around with flags flying never took time to learn flag etiquette.

    1. Who and when are people supposed to learn flag etiquette? I only think of those who were scouts perhaps, or in the military.

  4. I like colourful runners and everyone in ER commented on them the other night. I am not sure that I would choose that pair but I would appreciate them on others.

    1. Oh when you say runners I think of ivy and various beans growing...isn't our language fun!

  5. Mesa Verde - what memories that brings back. We had a tour there and walked through those buildings. Climbing back up to the cliff top we had to use the handholds made by the people who once lived there. Did that ever give me shivers! It was an awe inspiring experience I'll never forget.

    1. The tours just go up and down a path, the last time I visited...goodness, you got to learn how to climb a cliff! Amazing. That children were raised in these villages is also amazing...the childcare must have been intense!

    1. Bears are evident just where I leave my trash each week...sometimes they have pulled out something from one of the locked down Bear-Proof tubs. So I hope they don't come along when I'm walking from my apartment past the bin of tubs to my car, usually in the daytime. I've made sure not to leave any scent of food in my car, even a can of cashews that was in the glove compartment. Yes, I'm a little scared too!
