Update about blogCa

Who knew all this would happen afterwards! Flat Creek in November, 2024. Much changed by the force of the hurricane floods in Sept. 2024. The deck of the bridge is now under that pile of debris.

Earth Day facts

Catching up with some Earth Day facts (which wouldn't download for me yesterday!)

  1. Hi Barbara, Some of the people that we know just write off climate change to a 'normal' cyclical event and don't feel that humans have anything to do with it. Just my opinion but when it comes to automobiles, the government should have started by pushing consumers to buy...and manufacturers to build...hybrid gas/electric cars. Would have been an easier pill to swallow. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

    1. I understand completely. But then I recycle, and avoid things full of plastic. One can do only what one can.

  3. This is something we all have to deal with. Sadly, people with money continue to exploit the earth. I don't know how it will change. Others are just scrabbling for rent.

    1. Yes, certainly when in survival mode, where I've been quite a few times, there isn't that much concern about using plastics or whether food is organic or not. I've never been in the position of being rich, so can just imagine that there might be some folks (and I think even some Hollywood types) who do promote sustainable living.

  4. We had snow in November (first time I can remember this) and today... it is Spring here!... car-windows were frozen.

    1. Ouch. Our frost may have come last night as predicted, and I did take down my one porch potted plant...but I didn't get up early enough to see it. The plant did fine sitting against the building under the little roof. Hope you get warm weather soon.

    1. That's the thrust of the statistics. But we can't live in them. We can only make choices that work for us!
