If I don't comment for a while, I'm pushing things into boxes. Taking boxes to thrift stores or the garbage! Or piling up the ones to keep and take to Colorado in a bit more than a week. My brain is fried.
Sharing with Thankful Thursday!
And near where my son lives in Cortez CO...
Lightning sparked the Long Canyon fire in Mesa Verde National Park on Monday, shutting down some of the park's popular attractions, the National Park Service said.
The Ferris Fire has moved south from Delores County into Montezuma County as of July 8 - the county where my son's home is.

Hello Barb,
ReplyDeleteYou move is getting close, I hope you have help packing and moving.
The fire looks scary. I hope everyone stays safe.
Great quotes. BTW, your header is lovely.
Take care, have a great day!
Thanks. A friend came over yesterday and helped. When someone else has her energy here, it inspires me to get going as well. More intense compared to my frequent taking of breaks. I think better on my feet then, interestingly enough!
DeleteSo soon! I hope all goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Me too! So far it seems that everything is going ok.
Delete...Barbara, moving can be a challenge and I wish you the strength to be up to that challenge. Be well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your vote of confidence - and good wishes for my health too!
DeleteThere are quite a few cliffside dwellings preserved in the southwest, or at least I saw more than one when I was there briefly 20 years ago. And some old settlements not on cliffsides. It was cool to see.
ReplyDeleteThe ancestors, called the Pueblo ancestors now, built many different little buildings...some on top of the mesa, some within the walls. When I visited there 7 years ago I saw many more than I can remember, as well as the scorched ground where more recent wildfires had happened, and trees just beginning to come back among the blackened trunks of old ones where older fires had been.
DeleteEvery time I come here I am completely overwhelmed on your behalf. But you are doing it! We're leaving for our trip to Black Mountain in six days and I'm freaking out about that! You are made of sturdier stuff than I am.
ReplyDeleteMarjory Stoneman Douglas was definitely one of the strongest women I've ever heard of.
NO! You're arriving when I'm leaving! So the fates would have us passing ships in the night...or something. Will you get here before the 21st so I can meet you in person at the Dripolator Coffee shop? Please please please!! And yes, today I'm overwhelmed too. Found 6 boxes of files...hanging files with folders neatly labeled. All my old tax forms. So tomorrow I'll take the ones that need to be shredded over to the office. This morning I was exhausted just getting as much trash and recycling out as I could before it was too hot...as well as laundry! Took a nap before noon! Have 5 more boxes of files waiting for attention...not to mention the whole top shelf of old discards in the storage closet. Woe is me! Woe I say. Whatever it is... But the dishes are packed! Yay to Judy who did them!
DeleteYes! I am getting there the 16th. I am not sure about the actual location of this house we've rented and where it is in relation to Black Mountain. But I'll let you know when we plan a trip into town.
DeleteThis seems to have come quickly. Perhaps that's better, as it is a motivator for getting rid of excess stuff. You will ace this! Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteI really want to be ready earlier than my target date, so I can relax then!! But so far I find I need to sit more than I plan to!
DeleteDon't wear yourself out! Take lots of sit down breaks.
ReplyDeleteIf only I didn't turn on the TV or start playing solitaire...my breaks tend to be way too long! Woe is me. (See above, not sure what woe might be, but I think it's no fun!) I need FUN is me!!
DeleteYou are getting so close to your move! I know it can be a daunting task and glad you had a bit of help. I am looking forward to seeing your new place and new adventures. Thank you for taking the time to link up!
ReplyDeleteOne easy thing for me to do is to blog. I can type still much better than write with my tremors in my fingers. And I can sit much better than go through old stuff and discard things. Today I had a big box of out-of-date food, and was going to throw it away, because of course nobody would want me to give it to anyone who might then get sick. I saw the maintenance man take it away however. I hope he doesn't get sick, but hey, some of that food must still be good, even though it's expired date was 2021.
DeleteMy son's home in Cortez is about 20-25 miles south of the Ferris Fire which is north of the town of Delores CO. I do worry about them!
ReplyDeleteI just spoke with him, and my son is a former wildland firefighter in the US Forest Service...he said there's nothing to worry about. They seldom even have the smoke blow in their direction.
DeleteOh my goodness, your move is coming up fast! Try not to wear yourself out, Barb.
ReplyDeleteThose fires are concerning. Especially the one not too far from your son.
I appreciate your support. Yes I need to work, then rest, then continue working!
DeleteYou're in the home stretch! You can do it! Just be sure to take frequent rest breaks. I think you are wonder woman!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I could sure use a wonder woman about now! I have to wear a mask when dealing with the dusty or old paper things - which is the task this evening. But it lets me breathe!

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear there’s no fire danger in your son’s area. Good luck with the move.
