I captured this from FaceBook. But there are several more videos also on YouTube under their title.

A fossil find...proving fairies existed way back when, wherever this was!
Another fairy, painted by Cecily Mary Barker Posted to Facebook in 2019, I stated I felt like the tiny bird perched on the fairy's foot. |
Oh look, it's a little fairy that might be confused as a child dressed up as one!

From fantasy fairies to giant puppets, it's all a wonderful way to tell stories. And my inner child still loves imagining these stories.
Sharing with Sepia Saturday this week...where Alan Burnett has hosted a regular prompt for many years from England...and lots of folks have posted some similar photos from their collections of old and/or interesting photos (usually sepia toned).
Today's quote:
...Barbara, thanks for this fabulous post!
ReplyDeleteFantasies abound.
DeleteI love those giant puppets! I'd forgotten I'd seen videos of them.
ReplyDeleteThey sure are fun to watch...great engineering and people running them.
DeleteEspecially when the people put on ponchos when she's taking her shower!
DeleteHello Barb,
ReplyDeleteI love all the fairies and the giant puppets are cool.
The bowl look pretty.
Have a great day and happy weekend.
Happy weekend coming around the corner...hope you enjoy seeing all the critters tomorrow...I'll have some!
DeleteLove the fossil ‘fairy’ and the picture afterward.
ReplyDeleteFairies were photographed very early, in gardens, by children who made them out of paper, if I remember rightly. Well, they could have been real!
DeleteI need more fairies in my life!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, a few from each garden flower too!
DeleteThe Little Girl Giant video was amazing! So life-like. What fun. I have a collection of Cecily Mary Barker's fairy art postcards. Pixies all. So precious. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have a couple of books of flower fairies. Donated them sometime however.
DeleteWonderful fossil fairy. It's a mile or two from here, in 1917, that the 'Cottingley Fairies' hoax was carried out by two young girls, who faked some photos of fairies so convincingly that even Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes author) believed them.
ReplyDeleteOh that's great that you know that information about those original fairy photos! Such resourceful little girls!
DeleteI believe in fairies and magic! I'm a writer so I should. :)
ReplyDeleteWell of course!
DeleteThose giant puppets are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there were so many videos of them!
DeleteDo you know the story of the young girls who fooled people by making fake photos of fairies in a garden? The funny thing is that people believed the story for 60 years! (Cottingley Fairies)
ReplyDeleteI've been captivated by those giant mechanical puppets, too. They have a fantastic quality that is very different than what parade floats or amusement parks present. The fairies are another wonder from an older time when there were many things still unknown about the world. However lately I would not be surprised if people start believing in fairies again.
ReplyDeleteFrom Scotsue - what a fantastic, imaginative post! Love the fairies.
