I'm also going to start posting some photos of the Asheville Art Museum...where I visited last Sunday.

I woke at 3 am and by 4 decided I may as well get up. There was just this one problem. Light headed upon standing. I heated up a 3/4 cup of left over coffee and walked with a hand on the walls and furniture back to bed, where I find the iPad is great for reading blogs which friends published last night. Well, some are in England and Europe so this is their noon probably (it’s finally almost 6 am). The dizziness is strange because my friend has been complaining of it also, even got Meclizine and a diagnosis of vertigo. Wish I had some right now. But my. Question. Is. - since when is vertigo contagious? I was thinking mine was related to shortness of breath…or taking the heavy duty antibiotic for whatever is in my lungs which shouldn’t be.
But hey, I want to be able to take out the garbage…which means walking a couple dozen feet on the sidewalk! I have a cart, which means I don’t have to lift it the whole way. But that doesn’t give me stability. OK…wish me luck. In an hour or so, that is.
For now I’m drinking a protein shake and lots of water, and staying sitting up in bed.
UPDATE:
Teresa brought me some Meclizine, and the nurse at Doc's office said that sounded good since its over the counter, and she'd tell the Doc my situation. So Teresa proved she's an angel among us and also took out the trash, and cut down some heavy duty boxes for recycling too! And now it's almost 11 am (I wasn't sure I'd make it this far when I wrote my earlier details.) and I can move slowly about, without bending over! It's definitely a day for a nap!
Today's quote:
When making big changes in our life, it can be easier to break it up into a few small changes to avoid being overwhelmed.
...I'm a member of dizzy club too. Every time I get up I have to be careful.
ReplyDeleteAnd when we were little we liked spinning around, or swinging higher to get that dizzy feeling!
DeleteI hope the dizzy goes away soon. It might be dehydration, so you're wise to drink water.
ReplyDeleteYes, hydrate is always a good thing. Now (at 12:30 pm) I’m for a nap!
DeleteI love the art and floral display. I have episodes of vertigo, it is an awful feeling. It is best to move slowly. Take good care of yourself. Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI said to my legs, you know how to walk across the room while I carry coffee…so I’m trusting you better than my head.
DeleteI neglected to say thank you for the continuing gallery.
ReplyDeleteYou’re welcome…I like having a bit of something artsy/pretty to share.
DeleteThat kind of dizziness is not good. I hope it is only temporary. Thanks for the gallery tour, too.
ReplyDeleteI do hope it goes away soon. Taking the OTC drug for it may be helpful. Or maybe taking lower dose of the antibiotic they started me on a couple days ago…we shall see.
DeleteI only seem to get dizzy if I stand up quickly from really bending over. In may case it’s called orthostatic hypotension iirc. I’ve experience it for a long time, but as long as I am not bending low and then standing up, it doesn’t occur.
ReplyDeleteI could reach down to turn off a floor fan, but yes, coming back up was worse. I grabbed the door jam. Nice to have a Latin name for it! But even turning my head, or moving from leaning chin on hand, yikes. The world spins so easily.
DeleteSmall changes. Yes! One bite at a time we eat the elephant. I sure hope you are feeling perfect soon friend! Dizziness can be a scary issue for so many of us. May it never happen to either of us again! Aloha
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia for your kind wishes. Ditto! I’m so grateful that Teresa had just purchased some of these little pills.
DeleteDizziness is such a horrible feeling and very limiting. It can be caused by dehydration so carry on drinking plenty of water, especially if the weather is hot. Thank goodness for the 'angels' around us.
ReplyDeleteI was able to fix some tortillas and black beans for lunch…so I’m well enough to have an appetite…just don’t ask me to bend over in refrigerator to get anything on the bottom shelf!
DeleteVertigo is scary
ReplyDeleteI now start the morning by rotating my head left three times
then right, then left again before getting out of bed
It works for.me
Sounds like a good way to wake up...and see each direction. Daughter-in-law goes to work at a farm some days...early rush. She says she at least thinks of each of the directions as part of a meditation... I can think of them, and slowly turn my head. Pulmonologist finally called (after my nap) to say to quit the antibiotic for a few days, see if that helps. If so, then take half the dose they started me with. OK by me.
