The little town that Rocks

That's Black Mountain...who's Tourist industry came up with that slogan, and we've got artist-painted rocking chairs around town for visitors to sit in and enjoy.

Last Thursday a friend from my Ornish Rehab program met me for lunch, then we went window-shopping. It was a lot of fun!

Seven Sisters gallery had these lovely glass witches balls...and this one matched my friend's outfit...so we had to have a photo!

Today's quote:

This magnificent refuge is inside you.
Enter.
Shatter the darkness that shrouds the doorway...
Be bold.  Be humble.
Put away the incense and forget
the incantations they taught you.
Ask no permission from the authorities.
Close your eyes and follow your breath
to the still place that leads to the
invisible path that leads you
home.

  1. Hello,

I think that is a great slogan for the town. The painted rocking chairs is a great idea, so cute. I love the flowers and the cute glass ball. Nice photo of your friend. Take care, have a happy day!

  2. But does the town rock around the clock?

    1. Most definitely not! We roll up the sidewalks at 6 or 7 (or whenever people are done in restaurants) and there's maybe 2 or 3 taverns, and on weekends maybe a concert or so at one venue...but of course limited seating for everything these days. Many of us wanted a movie place. Instead we've gotten 2 areas where Trivia is played the same night.

    1. I like it too...and there's nothing rock and roll about it.

  4. It is always special to meet up with friends, and especially so when the pandemic has changed our lives so much.

    1. Since Margaret and I had lunch together...we got to see each other unmasked for the time we were eating...then back into masks. Fortunately most of the shops we visited also had customer with masks, and only one tiny shop became too crowded.

  7. A great slogan for the town. I bet lots of people would want a photo of them sitting in one of those rockers.

    1. The rockers are auctioned off at some event or another. We have a great big one to sit in for portrait photos near the visitors info center.
