Finally some color

Oct. 2 one of the trees in Black Mountain NC

Oct. 3, looking at the Maples outside my living room window (with some fog)

Lots of leaves on the ground.

Same view Oct 11...where the dogwood has started to turn color, and there are less maple leaves still on the trees.

Oct. 4 at Flat Creek in Black Mountain

Finally the rain stopped, and I looked up and saw my favorite tree in the neighborhood has started to turn colors, Oct 8, 6:30 pm.

On Oct 11

I think this poplar decided to let its leaves go during last weeks showers, no heavy winds...but there were still a few yellow leaves on Sun, Oct 10.

Fear not...I'm scheduled later this week to go with a friend on the Blue Ridge Parkway to find some fall color!!

Today's quote:

The test of a democracy is not the magnificence of buildings or the speed of automobiles or the efficiency of air transportation, but rather the care given to the welfare of all the people. -Helen Adams Keller, lecturer and author (27 Jun 1880-1968)

  1. Sometimes it is a bit of a race. Will the leaves remain until they fully change or will they drop.

    1. And squirrels and birds go about their existence just happy for something to eat each day!

  2. Hello,
We are seeing little bits of color here, not too much. It is still mostly green.
    Take care, enjoy your day!

    1. I'm planning to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway soon, which has a couple of hundred feet (or even a thousand foot) higher elevations.

    1. I've been very good this year, not trying to see what's already developed in higher altitudes.

  4. The colours of fall are always wonderful, something to look forward to each year. Your Helen Keller quote seems especially appropriate during these troubled times.

  6. Our summer was so hot that I'm not sure how our fall colors will be. We appreciate any that we get here in the Evergreen State.

  7. Most of the trees here get blown off by the wind but we do have some beauties. Have fun searching for colourful scenery.
